All Amazon Fire TV remote controls generate KeyEvent events for button presses, as any Android input device does. You can handle controller button input with standard Android event listener interfaces and callbacks (onClick(), onFocusChange(), and so on). Neither the Amazon Fire TV Remote nor the Voice Remote raises motion events (from the Android MotionEvent class).

The following table describes the buttons, the Android KeyEvent constants, and the default behavior of those buttons. None of the Amazon Fire TV remotes raises motion events (from the Android MotionEvent class).

I am trying now for a long time to use my AFTV remote with Libreelec on Raspberry Pi. Yesterday I got my new Raspberry 4 and again I want to try to pair it with libreelec. For me it is the best remote control on the market.

After activating blueetooth in the settings->services menu I choose the menu entry "Blueetooth". Here some of my bluetooth devices are listed but not my remote. Somewhere I read that you have to press the Home-Button for a longer time to enable pairing mode. Somewhere I read you have to press for ~20 seconds and that up to ten times to work. I have tried but it didn't work.

Using your Fire TV Stick may be even simpler than setting it up. You'll use the directional buttons on the remote to navigate the interface, and the central button on the middle to select items. There's a back button, a home button, and a menu button.

One of the easiest ways to use the Fire TV interface is through Alexa. Simply press and hold the Alexa button on the remote and say, "Alexa" followed by what you want it to do. For example, "Alexa, launch Prime Video" and your Fire TV Stick will automatically open the app for you. Or, you can say "Alexa, show me popular comedies" and your Fire TV Stick will pull up a list of recommended comedy movies and shows.

You can also use the Fire TV app on your smartphone to control your Fire TV Stick. You'll be able to change settings, launch apps, search for content, and enter text using the keyboard. If you prefer a touch screen, it's a great alternative to the remote or Alexa.

Selecting any device type will display the remote control that was shipped with that device. Since the Fire Stick 1st Gen did not have app shortcut buttons, they will not be available to use when you configure your card this way. The image and image labels at the top of this thread might help you to understand what I mean by that.

The Amazon Fire TV Voice Remote Pro has backlit keys, two customizable buttons, an easy pair Bluetooth button and can use Alexa to help you find it when it's lost. Otherwise, it's not much different from other Fire TV remotes.

The Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote Pro looks a lot like other Fire TV remotes. Its layout is almost identical to that of the remote that comes with the Fire TV Cube, for example, though the Pro is slightly more compact. It comes with three additional buttons that can only be found on the Pro: a headphone button at the top right corner, which acts as a shortcut to Bluetooth pairing, as well as two customizable shortcut buttons at the bottom. These can be used to open an app on your TV, initiate an Alexa command or control Alexa-enabled smart home products.

Everything on the remote works well, even across multiple Fire TV devices. I tested the Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote Pro on an older Fire TV Stick 4K and on the 2022 Fire TV Cube and was able to easily switch between the devices by pressing and holding the home button on the remote until it paired. There was no difference in functionality from one Fire TV device to the other.

Note that you can pair headphones with most Fire TV devices by digging into the menus, so the shortcut button isn't a necessity. It is really convenient, however, and I'd love to see it on more remotes in the future.

The backlit buttons aren't a game-changer, but it's fun to see the white symbols glow through the all-black buttons every time you grab the remote in a dim room. It's a nice touch that gives the remote a slightly more premium feel.

Fire TV's most impressive feature is Alexa voice control, but Alexa isn't any different on the "Pro" remote than it is on any other device. All Fire TV remotes have access to Amazon's personal assistant. You can ask it to search, control the TV, launch apps, and do any number of things. There is only one special feature that makes the Pro remote compelling: Alexa can find this remote when it's lost.

But what if your Fire TV is the only Alexa device you own? Well, then you'll need to download and use the Alexa app on your Android or iPhone. Just open it up and say "Alexa, find my remote." This will activate the clicker's painfully annoying multi-note beep (I prefer Roku's range of finder sounds). It won't stop until you hit any button on the device, which will give you extra incentive to find your remote as quickly as possible in order to shut it up.

The whole process works as intended, but I wish it were possible to cut Alexa out of the equation. Roku's use of a mid-field mic on its remote means that you don't need an extra device to find it when it's lost. The remote itself will be able to hear you and immediately start pinging -- no need for an app or anything else.

The Roku Voice Remote Pro also comes with a rechargeable battery, while the Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote Pro does not. I understand that it can be annoying to need to recharge tech, but single-use batteries are not very efficient. This feels like another place where Amazon failed to differentiate the Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote Pro from the rest of the remotes it makes.

Ultimately, the Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote Pro does little to make it an interesting, let alone necessary, upgrade. If you've lost or destroyed your original remote and need a new one anyway, or if you lose your Fire TV remote constantly, this might be a good choice. Otherwise, save your $30 and spend it on something more useful.

Note: When you've tried everything and the Firestick remote still won't pair, you may be able to contact Amazon for a fix. This should be the last-ditch effort before replacing the remote.

My amazon fire stick remote wont work at all it was working perfectly well last night I've tried holding the home button down for 10 seconds unplugging ,plugging back in ,pressing every other button for 10 seconds and............ nothing it's as if it's completely died ????????

I have something similar, I don't know how this happened but I turned around and my dog had pushed the button on the remote causing it to go into remote setup mode now I can't get out of setup mode? I'll hold the home button down for 10 sec nothing happens except it keeps changing different languages for setup instructions. I've unplugged the fire stick cable for at least 3 mins now and I turned it back on plugged it back in, the Amazon & firestick tv came on but then went straight to remote setup mode. How do I get back to my Amazon prime tv programs?

I just got off the phone with customer service they had me factory reset the firestick remote by holding the return arrow the menu button and the left side of the move wheel for 15 seconds, then had me unplug my firestick and take out the remote batteries for 1 minute, Plug in my firestick and when it booted up put the batteries back in and push no buttons for a minute, then hold the home button for 20 seconds I saw blue leds when it was successfully paired. Hopefully this will help someone else who is having the same issue.

It's because the device has unpaired from the remote for some dumb reason, but just take out the batteries and put them back in. The batteries that came with them are actually pretty great batteries. Had the same ones in my remote for over a year they are still going strong.

sometimes I gotta tap the remote in my hand a few times.... Been doing it for years and remotes just fine. Honestly tho... I actually prefer the fire remote app on my phone. It does everything my hand held remote does and better actually, plus no batteries. I just recharge my phone.

My remote was working fine last night but now the arrow keys and the enter button dont work, the home button works just fine though. I dont know what to do. I have a kid here that wants to watch youtube until she falls asleep

Press and hold the Home button. At the same time, press the Menu button three times. Release the Home button. Press the Menu button 9 times. Remove the batteries from your remote. Unplug your Fire TV and wait 60 seconds. Put the batteries back in your remote, and then plug in your Fire TV. Once the Home screen appears, press and hold the Home button for 40 seconds. Wait 60 seconds for setup to complete.

I recently purchased a Samsung Smart TV ( UN75RU800DFXZA ). I connected a Amazon Fire 4k tv stick. After connecting fire stick, the tv automatically sync the remote. So I can control fire stick with Samsung TV Remote (also with fire stick remote) and this is greate. But the problem is, I can go to the Home page of amazon fire stick with samsung remote. Once i press the HOME button of the Samsung remote, it opens the Smart hub of the tv, not the amazon fire stick home page. to go to the fire home page i have to use fire remote, which is annoying. Can any one tell me how to navigate to amazon fire stick home page using samsung smart report while using any app on the fire stick?

My Samsung TV remote used to work fine to control the Fire TV (probably not the Home button, but I was fine with just the back button to exit out). A few days ago however the Samsung remote does nothing on the Fire TV. I haven't changed any settings. Restarted both (obviously :), but did not do a factory reset. HDMI-CEC is set on the Fire TV, Anynet is set on the tv - so it should work fine. But it doesn't. Did anyone face this, and have a suggestion? ff782bc1db
