Adobe Reader introduced an extension with the google chrome browser for online users. We all know the adobe software which is mainly recommended for PDF file formatting, editing, viewing, and saving. In recent days Adobe extended its online version with adobe pdf tools and Adobe Reader extension for only google chrome browsers.

Adobe released their extension to complete the full file formatting process. We can only edit pdf and update files with Adobe DC online tool but the adobe extension can give more updating features for Chrome users.

Adobe listed Acrobat Chrome and Edge extensions, which let users access its PDF tools directly and convert or edit any PDF files through their browser. These will let you merge, split, convert, and compress any pdf file without switching applications. Once the extension has been downloaded to your browser, it has to be set up as a PDF viewer in your chrome content settings.

Adobe Reader is mostly used for PDF file editing and opening system. Users can get some compress and converted tools from that extension which need to access google chrome. In my recommendation, downloading WPS Office software for its file converting, compressing, and updating to any doc file along with pdf. Users can get access to opening any formatted different files and printing with their preferable size.

First things first: you don't need this extension to view PDF documents in Google Chrome. Google Chrome has an integrated PDF reader, and the Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF-reading plugin is separate from the extension. You don't even need to enable the extension to use Adobe Reader normally.

However, this is also a feature that's available in Chrome without the browser extension. While viewing a PDF in Chrome's built-in PDF reader, you can click the "Download" button at the top right corner of the PDF reader page to download it to your desktop and then open it in Adobe Reader DC.

The new Adobe Acrobat plugin in Chrome now modifies the URL to add "chrome-extension://????" before the URL in the URL bar which makes saving and sharing URL's much more complicated and greatly reduces the efficiency and usefulness of the plugin. Surely there must be a way to turn this off and go back to the old plug in functionality. This is extremely frustrating and makes the sharing of URL's for Adobe Acrobat plug in users more complicated and surely less efficient. I am a business user and this change reduces my work productivity.. something which should not happen in an Adobe product... there is no productivity upside for this change. Please change this back. This applies to all PDF URL's.

Anyway my Idea remains valid because I need the same behavior of External Edge or Chrome that well configured open directly pdf with acrobat reader (after an auto-download). I don't want to open pdf directly in the uwgm internal chromium browser.

Our users when clicking on a PDF link from inside Edge Chromium need the PDF to be launched in Adobe Reader and not the browser. (like IE 11 was able to do) We have went through and have verified that all file associations that have the .PDF extension point to Adobe Reader. However, after that change PDFs linked in a browser (like IRS tax form PDF downloads) still open up in Edge Chromium in the browser. In the past this setting use to be controlled by Adobe in the PDF reader app. However, it is no longer controlled in that.

Hi Yechezkel, my apologies for the late reply. I was on holiday. Yes, it is possible to install an extension on a closed environment. This article describes the process accurately: -a-chrome-extension-without-an-internet-connection/. I tested it myself and it works. I do not know of any automated way how to install extensions offline though (I am not saying that it is not possible).

Chrome does not support the type of implementation you are describing out of security reasons. It is possible to manually install a CRX file though. Please see this article: -a-chrome-extension-without-an-internet-connection/.

I Have deployed the chrome extension through GPO.Its successfully deployed but users are not able to enable, disable & remove is there any way to give them access to disable, enable or remove option from registry setting or through GPO.

By default, the extension is disabled in incognito mode and on local files. Visit chrome://extensions/?id=oemmndcbldboiebfnladdacbdfmadadm and click on "Allow in incognito" to allow PDF files to be viewed in incognito mode, and "Allow access to file URLs" to allow local PDF files to be viewed. ff782bc1db
