[CRACKED] Download Accelerator Chrome

With a new build with Asus tuf x570, and 3600, powercolor 5700, it is necessary to disable chrome hardware acceleratation. This is due to vertical white line flashes when changing videos on tube site. Other than that it work fine, the videos play fine just the odd flash of a white line when changing videos. I have noticed many posts about many people all with mainstream graphic cards that need to disable chrome hardware acceleratation. The issue is not present with any other browsers. Does anybody know if google ever intends on fixing this?

Since google chrome is fairly new as compared to other browsers so not all popular 3rd party download managers support google chrome yet. So just to ease out this problem, i am listing some of the major download managers that have officially got google chrome support till now and which one can easily use without any problems.

The Default Google Chrome downloader allows downloading, but the downloading speed is very slow. I am using Selenium library in c# to open and control Chrome. When the chrome is opened (I am testing playback events), I take screenshots of the monitor and process them to determine when certain event occurred. The problem is that due to hardware-acceleration (i suppose that is the problem), the printscreens come back empty (black). How can I force the chrome opened by Selenium in my code to have hardware-acceleration disabled?

I have tried disabling the hardware-acceleration in chrome itself (in settings and in chrome://flags), but Selenium opens chrome with HW-acceleration anyway. I have tried to force Selenium to open chrome with HW-acceleration disabled like this:

With these settings, I have "VDAVideoDecoder" enabled in chrome://media-internals.

Interestingly, almost no information is found about "VDAVideoDecoder" so I cannot tell if that is a software decoder, or if it indicates that hardware acceleration is active.

sadly it seems like what hope I had since 89 of just using enable-hardware-decoding from chrome://flags on all the chromium based browsers and is not gonna happen.

I think the best to do is just use Firefox now. Google doesn't give a damn about non-chromebook Linux users.

This was working for me on brave90, which is chromium based. the enable hardware acceleration flag has vanished from brave://flags, and no combination of manually specifying --enable-features=VaapiVideoDecoder or --enable-accelerated-video-decode gets it to work for me on google-chrome 91 chromium 91 or brave 91. Its broken across the board for me on nvidia

Running into problems with HW decoding too. If I go on YouTube and open up a playlist, I can play a few videos, but after a while it stops working (white spinner, nothing plays anymore).

I wonder if this is similar to the problems others are experiencing.

In any case, I can play videos if I turn off HW video acceleration. My CPU is powerful enough and this is not a huge problem for me, but it bugs me.

Same problem on chromium and chrome-stable.

This gets it to work in my SOC intel based chromebook, it doesnt work in my main machine with an nvidia 1060 in it. vainfo and vdpau info both show it should work, brave://gpu shows it should work, but when I play a video it does not work.

The resolution was to reset chrome settings. I did this, shut down and restarted (don't recall if that part was necessary) and it was working. I did not have to mess with extensions. So in my case, the weirdness in Chrome was resolved by resetting chrome settings.

I recently migrated from Kubuntu to Manjaro, everything works.

The only thing I am not managing to get is video hardware acceleration on google chrome.

I have a NVIDA GTX 1050 Ti and drivers 495.46.

I thought it was a failure of my graphics card, but the video files I have on my computer work perfectly fine. The game works perfectly as well. It's just that when I watch the videos in browsers like chrome and edge, I have problems.

after following all the instructions, u do get hw accel except with hw video decode missing. it lists hw decode in chrome://gpu but it maxes the cpu at 4k youtube. it can only do 1440p on youtube with cpu nearing max so its clear hw decode isnt working. on the official debian build, it has hw decode and it can do 4k youtube with barely any drops using 10-20% cpu, unfortunately, the official debian doesnt have hw accel besides the video decode so things get sluggish elsewhere.

Do you guys know how reliable the chrome://gpu is? Mine says that hardware video decoding is enabled - I don't get the great 14% cpu usage that @royk gets but the machine plays 4k videos without any hickup with ~ 60% cpu which is imo already fast.

@OttawaHacker Do you mean 60% of 100 or the 60% from "top". Just checked and still about 15-20% with 2 cpus isolated (some testing with LinuxCNC). Then I resized the window, switched to another window and back and the cpu load stayed at 60% for a while, then had to reload and cpu load was as low as normal again. Perhaps an accelerator crashed at that moment?
