The City of New Orleans observes the following holidays, with solid waste and recycling collections suspended outside of the French Quarter and Downtown Development District (DDD). Contractors will implement alternative collection services for those routes affected by observed holidays by shifting all affected collection days forward one day (e.g., Observed Holiday occurs on Thursday, scheduled Thursday collections will occur on Friday, scheduled Friday collections will occur on Saturday).

Solid waste collections occur 365 days per year in the French Quarter and Downtown Development District (DDD). Recyclable materials collections do not occur on the holidays listed above in the French Quarter & Downtown Development District (DDD) and will resume on the next scheduled collection day.

All city offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1. For additional closure dates and times please check the Calendar of Events page. All essential services will continue to operate. Because of Christmas Day and New Year's Day falling on a Monday, trash/recycling collection days will be pushed back one day for everyone. i.e. Monday service will be picked up Tuesday, Tuesday service on Wednesday, etc.

The Police and Fire-Rescue departments work together within our communities to provide the highest level of quality service and protection. From neighborhood watch to 9-1-1 services, our team is here for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For seasonal recycling schedule addresses only, beginning December 4th leave your recycling cart visible at the storage location for crews to retrieve during the winter season; approximately every 15-20 work days. Ensure that there is a shoveled, open path for crews. Return collected carts to their storage area. Collection schedules may shift after holidays.

Same-day service has simplified holiday trash and recycling collection. Residents only have to remember changes on three holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. View how collection is impacted during these three holidays. If you have a question regarding holiday collection, email us or contact PHX Customer Services at 602-262-6251.

The only residents that will have their trash and recycling collection delayed for holidays are those whose regularly scheduled day would fall on the holiday. For example, if Monday is a holiday, then the people with a Monday collection should set their carts out for a Tuesday pickup - but no one else needs to adjust their schedule. Set the appropriate carts out on your regularly scheduled day.

Several City buildings offering municipal services are open to the public by appointment only, including: City Hall, the Municipal Service Center, DPW&P (East Worcester St. & Skyline Drive), Worcester Police Department, Inspectional Services/Worcester Fire Department. All locations will open with limited capacity, restricted hours and stringent safety protocols.

Following state mandates and public health recommendations, there will be limited capacity to allow for social distancing, with door monitors at both the entrance and exit to assist. Entry will not be permitted without a mask (masks will be available for those who do not have one). All visitors will be required to sign in upon entry and their information will be recorded for the purposes of contact tracing.

Some holidays require changes to the City's regular curbside collection schedule. Check your recycling and yard waste calendar using our interactive tool above to learn how the holidays may affect your service. Collection schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. For the most up-to-date, last-minute schedule alerts, follow the City of Raleigh on Twitter.

There are three different types of paid sick leave you should know about: L.A. permanent paid sick leave, L.A. COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave, and California COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave. Your employer must provide you with 48 hours (6 days) of permanent paid sick leave every year. In addition to these 48 hours, your employers may be required to provide an additional 80 hours (10 days) of sick leave to address COVID-19 sickness under state and local law.

For permanent paid sick leave (48 hours), your employer may be required to provide paid sick leave in an amount equaling your average two-week pay. This is based on your pay over the last 60 days. For example, if you make an average of $500/week, you may receive paid sick leave in the amount of $1,000.
