Douyin Toolkit ("the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that adds player

controls, public video information, user-initiated downloads, and a local

library for douyin.com. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and

does not do with your data.

**Summary: The extension is local-first. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or

share any personal data. Everything it stores stays in your own browser.**

## 1. Information we collect

We — the developer — collect **nothing**. The extension has no server, no

account system, and no analytics or telemetry. No personal information is sent

to us or to any third party.

## 2. Information stored on your device

To provide its features, the extension stores the following **locally in your

browser only** (using Chrome storage and IndexedDB). This data never leaves your

device and is never transmitted:

- **Settings and preferences** — your chosen options, keyboard shortcuts, and

  feature toggles.

- **Watch history** — items you viewed on Douyin, with watch time, if you enable

  history (on by default after onboarding; you can turn it off).

- **Playlists** — local collections you create. These are unrelated to your

  Douyin account favorites.

- **Download and job records** — a local record of downloads and export jobs you

  started.

- **Analytics snapshots** — results of creator scans you run yourself, kept

  locally.

You can search, edit, export, or delete this data at any time from the

extension, including a "Delete all local data" action that clears every store.

## 3. What we never collect or transmit

The extension does **not** collect, store off-device, or transmit any of the

following:

- Cookies, passwords, session tokens, or authentication data

- Your browsing history outside Douyin

- Private messages, direct messages, or private chat

- Location data, financial data, or health data

- Any personally identifiable information

## 4. Permissions and why they are used

- **storage** — to save your settings, history, and playlists on your device.

- **downloads** — to save media files and data exports that you explicitly

  start.

- **sidePanel** — to show the local library and research panel in Chrome's side

  panel.

- **Host access to https://www.douyin.com and https://live.douyin.com** — to

  display the on-page toolbar and read the public information already shown on

  the page you are viewing. The extension operates only on these sites.

## 5. Network activity

The extension does not send your data anywhere. When you start a download, your

browser fetches the media directly from the source the page already exposes,

using Chrome's own download function. No download or activity information is

reported back to the developer.

The extension contains no remotely hosted code. All JavaScript is packaged

inside the extension and nothing is loaded or executed from a remote server.

## 6. Third parties

The extension does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking

services. It does not share data with any third party because it does not

collect or transmit data in the first place.

An optional external "resolver" feature described in the product documentation is

**not enabled** and requires a separate, explicit opt-in with its own consent

screen before any future use. In the current version, no external data

providers are contacted.

## 7. Data retention and deletion

All data lives on your device. Watch history follows the retention period you

choose (default 90 days; options include off, 7, 30, 90, 365 days, or forever).

You can delete any item, clear a range, or delete all local data at any time.

Uninstalling the extension removes its stored data from your browser. Files you

have already downloaded remain on your computer and are not affected.

## 8. Children's privacy

The extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. It does

not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

## 9. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for respecting content rights, consent, platform terms, and

local law when using the extension. Downloads are always initiated by you.

## 10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material

changes will be reflected in the extension's store listing.
