DotJoin is a dots-and-boxes puzzle game made by an independent developer. This page explains, in plain language, what information the app touches and why.
WHAT WE COLLECT
Advertising ID. DotJoin shows ads through Google AdMob (banners and interstitials). AdMob uses your device's advertising ID to personalize and measure those ads. We don't collect this ID ourselves it's collected by Google on our behalf, under Google's own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You can reset or limit this ID at any time in your device's Settings (Google Settings Ads on Android).
Your nickname. When you play, you can type a nickname so other players can see who they're up against. That nickname is stored on your own device. If you play an online match, your nickname is also stored in DotJoin's own backend database (Firebase) so it can be shown to the other player in that match it is not sent anywhere else.
Chat messages. During online matches, players can send text chat messages to other players in the same room. These messages, together with the sender's chosen nickname, are stored in the app's Firebase Realtime Database. Messages are visible to everyone currently in that room. Messages are deleted when the room is deleted, which happens when the game ends or the host leaves. Please don't include personal information in chat messages. If you'd like a chat message removed, email us at the address below.
WHAT WE DON'T COLLECT
DotJoin does not ask you to create an account, and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information beyond what's described above. There are no in-app purchases and no payment information is ever collected by the app.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
DotJoin is intended for players aged 13 and up and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us at the email below and we'll look into it.
HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS USED
The advertising ID is used solely to show and measure ads. Your nickname is used solely to identify you to the other player in an online match. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for anything beyond what's described on this page.
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Your nickname lives on your own device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. For online matches, nicknames tied to a match are stored in our database only as long as needed to run that match. If you'd like us to delete any data associated with your play, email us at the address below and we will remove it.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
