Doodle Zoo

Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Doodle Zoo is a drawing game for iPad, made for children. This policy explains what the app does with information. It is written to be read by a parent rather than by a lawyer.
Doodle Zoo does not collect any information about you or your child, and does not send anything anywhere.
The app has no internet connection of any kind. There is no account to create, nothing to sign in to, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party software inside it. Your child's drawings, recordings and photos stay on your iPad, because the app has no way to send them anywhere.
Everything Doodle Zoo saves is kept inside the app's own storage on your iPad. We — the developer — cannot see any of it. There is no server to see it on.
The app stores:
The zoos themselves: your child's drawings, the animals, pens, paths, decorations and signs they have made, the names they have given things, and their Zoo Bucks.
A small picture of each zoo, drawn by the app, used on the "choose a zoo" screen.
Voice recordings, if your child chooses to record a noise for an animal (see below).
Settings and progress: whether the music and sounds are on, how loud they are, how long a day lasts, how far through the introduction your child has got, and how many spelling games they have won.
None of this includes a name, an email address, a location, a device identifier, or anything else that identifies you or your child, unless your child types a name into the app themselves — for example naming their zoo or naming an animal. Anything they type stays on the iPad with everything else.
Doodle Zoo asks permission before using any of these, and the app works without them if you say no.
Used only by the photo booth, where your child can put their own face into a picture they have drawn. The photograph is held in memory while they look at it. It is written to your Photos app only if your child taps "Save to Photos". If they don't, it is gone when they leave the photo booth. The app never stores camera pictures anywhere else and never sends them anywhere.
Used only so your child can record their own noise for an animal they drew — their own roar for their lion. Recordings last at most three seconds and are saved on the iPad alongside that zoo. They are never uploaded or shared. Deleting the animal deletes its recording; deleting the zoo deletes all of them.
Your child can choose to trace around one of your own photographs instead of drawing freehand. This uses Apple's standard photo picker, which runs outside the app: Doodle Zoo receives only the single picture your child chose, and has no access to the rest of your photo library. Traced photographs are not saved into the zoo and are not kept by the app.
When your child saves a photo-booth picture, the app asks only for permission to add to your Photos. It cannot read your existing photos through that permission.
Doodle Zoo is designed for children and is intended to be safe for them to use on their own.
It collects no personal information from children, so there is nothing to ask a parent's consent to collect, and nothing we could disclose to anyone.
There is no advertising of any kind, and no behavioural profiling.
There is nothing to buy — no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. The "Zoo Bucks" in the game are pretend money that exists only inside your child's zoo and cannot be bought or exchanged for anything real.
There are no links out of the app, no web pages, no social features, no messaging, and no way for your child to contact anybody or be contacted.
There is no user-generated content shared with anyone. What your child draws is seen only on your iPad.
If you have iCloud Backup or computer backups switched on for your iPad, iOS includes the app's saved zoos in that backup, in the same way it does for other apps. That backup belongs to you and is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not by this one — we have no access to it. It does mean that restoring an iPad from a backup will restore your child's zoos.
Because nothing leaves your iPad, you are in complete control of all of it.
Delete one drawing: tap it in the album and choose to rub it out.
Delete one animal's recorded voice: open "My voice" on that animal and choose "Rub it out".
Delete a whole zoo: press and hold it on the "choose a zoo" screen and choose to put it away. This removes that zoo's drawings and all of its recordings.
Delete everything: delete the Doodle Zoo app from your iPad. Everything it saved goes with it.
There is nothing held anywhere else, so there is nothing else to request, correct or erase. If you are in the UK or the EU and would normally exercise rights under the UK GDPR or GDPR — access, correction, erasure, portability, objection — there is no personal data held by us for those rights to apply to.
Doodle Zoo contains no third-party code, no software development kits, no advertising networks and no analytics services. Nothing is shared with anybody, because there is nobody to share it with and no means of doing so.
The app is distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple collects its own information about downloads and purchases under Apple's Privacy Policy, which is separate from this one and outside our control.
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the policy will be updated here and the date at the top will change. If a future version of Doodle Zoo were ever to collect anything at all, we would say so clearly and ask permission first.
