Libby's Flowerpatch is a foreign children's cartoon show created by Valentina Garcia. The show aired on Cranium, an edutainment television channel for preschoolers. It's premise was to teach kids about nature, and how to respect and live with it in a modern and ever-advancing age of technology. The show aired for at least three years before ultimately being cancelled. Re-runs of the show would continue for another 2 years before ultimately being taken off the air completely.
The show follows Libby, a travelling farmer and gardener as she settles into a village in need of help. Libby establishes a flower patch at the northern most part of town, where she lives and grows flowers and crops for the town's folk. It is a haven for nature and wild life. Libby's influences are often sabotaged by the so-called 'Czar of The Village', The Little Red Devil, who attempts to foil Libby, and keep the village in a withering, grey state.
Libby - The main protagonist of Libby's Flowerpatch. Kind-hearted, patient, and always forgiving, Libby is viewed as a hero and savior among the town's folk. Libby believes that "there is nothing ugly in nature", and encourages the town's folk to embrace the natural world around them.
Libby loves plants and flowers, and will distribute them throughout the village to anyone who wants them.
The Little Red Devil - The Little Red Devil is the main antagonist of Libby's Flowerpatch. Grumpy, ruthless, and silly, The Little Red Devil is the self-proclaimed 'Czar of The Village'. The devil has long had a major influence over the people of the village, taking their crops, and turning the village into an grey, dreary town that has lost all connections to the natural world.
The Little Red Devil owns a flower patch of his own, (On the opposite side of the town from Libby's) where he lives and plots his evil deeds. Though The Devil's "flower patch" is mostly just weeds and dirt. And remarkably high-tech.
Several years after the shows cancellation, Cranium hosted what was essentially a world wide raffle to celebrate the show. The winner would receive a one-of-a-kind, life-sized Libby plushie. The plushie itself was made with a specially colored fabric into order to be as accurate as possible to the original character. The winner of the contest would end up being Donnie, who wrote a letter directly to the show's creator, Valentina Garcia. Weather or not this had any impact on the results or if she ever even received the letter is debatable.
While the show has seemingly become lost media in Donnie's country, Cranium's raffle suggests that it still had quite a large audience.
The two episodes that Donnie is seen watching in The Dreamscape are based off the LazyTown episodes 'Happy Brush Day' and 'Lazy Town's Surprise Santa'.
The Libby in the show has a slightly different color palette from the plush Libby. Most noticeably, the show Libby's mouth is solid black, while the plushie's is more red.
While writing this article, Brandon Luke noticed Libby's green color scheme was a nice connection to her gardening roots.
In an unused draft of "The Final Straw of Donnie & Libby & AJ", Libby's voice actor was said to have been a woman named Rosa Pingree, whom Donnie would've met off-screen at an event being held at Dark Woods Public Library.
