Jerry

The Brain Gerbil

Jerry is a gerbil with square eyes, brown fur, a pink nose, pink ears, and brown skin. While he sometimes walks on all fours, typically when running, he mostly stands and walks upright.

Being the only one of his kind, Jerry is quite lonely and is always aiming to make friends, but his not-too-good listening skills make it difficult.

Despite harvesting their brains for food, Jerry has shown on several occasions to actually care for humans, often trying to genuinely help them out by replacing the stupid parts of their brains with a better one. But he usually just makes situations worse, often, weather directly or indirectly, ending up killing someone from the sudden change in personality.

Jerry started life as an ordinary gerbil. Running around the big city searching for food. One day, he was captured by scientists looking for an easy way to break through the mind of any one who may be in denial, or believes some dangerous, false conspiracy.

For months, the captured gerbil, now given the name Jerry, had been experimented on. Of the many alterations made, one was to merge it's brain with an advanced computer brain to give Jerry beyond human level intelligence, including master tips on breaking through denialism, and the knowledge on how to swap out highly specified parts of a human brain.

While it isn't known exactly what happened, a horrible accident one day gave Jerry an insatiable appetite for the brains of moronic humans and woke him from his deep slumber. Jerry escaped from his test tube, attacking his way through the scientists, and ran off.

With an already greatly established knowledge of the world, Jerry boarded a plane to head to the sahara desert, and he has resided there ever since. Occasionally, he'll still return to human civilization to either feed, or carry out the work he was programmed to do.

In the hundred plus years since his escape, Jerry has become infamous around the world, known for killing thousands of people in gruesome fashion over the course of his long life. Many attempts have been made to kill him, but due to the work of the scientists, his body and brain have become incredibly resilient, to the point of making Jerry almost immortal. One of his (many) nicknames is, 'the immortal gerbil'.

• In the first comic strip, Jerry's head in profile was drawn much smaller in proportion to his body.
