Looking for more than just a summer job?

Summer19 is a ten-week employment & mentorship program for youth ages 16-24 in Washtenaw County. It provides employment opportunities and on-the-job training within businesses and organizations throughout Washtenaw County. Youth with a high school degree, GED, or equivalent will receive $12 per hour and youth without a high school degree, GED, or equivalent will receive $10 per hour.

Youth Commit To:

  • Attending these events:
      • Youth and Family Orientation
      • Ten hours of Soft Skills session
      • Match Day
      • Mid-Summer Celebration
      • End-of-Summer Celebration
      • Enrichment sessions
  • Working 20 hours per week over the 10 week employment period
  • Building working relationships with supervisors and program staff throughout the duration of the summer.

  • Application Opens: 1/14/19
  • Application Due: 3/29/19
  • Youth & Parent Orientation: 4/17/19
  • Soft Skills: 4/23/19 - 5/16/19, 5/28/19, and 5/30/19
  • Match Day: 5/22/19
  • HR Day (youth County employees only): June 3 and June 5
  • Employment Period: 6/17/19 - 8/23/19
  • Mid-Summer Celebration: 7/17/19
  • End-of-Summer Celebration: 8/22/19

What you'll need to know when applying:

  • Reliable contact information including a phone number and email address
  • Types of valid identification you have
  • Parent/Guardian contact information
  • Annual household income
  • Any benefits you and/or your family receive (SNAP, TANF, free or reduced lunch)
