“Doko-Hosting” (the “Extension”) is a Chrome extension that estimates and displays the hosting service, CDN, mail service, and related providers that may be used by the website currently open in the user’s browser.
The Extension collects the following information to provide its features:
The hostname obtained from the URL of the website currently open in the user’s browser
Public DNS information, such as NS, A, CNAME, MX, TXT/SPF, and PTR records
Public WHOIS registration information for server IP addresses, such as registrant names and network names
The collected information is used only for the following purposes:
To display estimated hosting services, CDNs, and mail services
To display the confidence level and basis for the detection results
To temporarily cache DNS lookup results in order to make the display faster and more stable
To keep a small amount of display data in the browser — the result detected last time for a site, the service icons that have already been loaded, and the time of the last “Check again” run — so that the popup opens quickly and repeated re-detection is limited
The Extension communicates externally only with the public services listed below. It does not send data to any other services.
To retrieve public DNS information, the Extension communicates with the Google Public DNS DNS-over-HTTPS API (https://dns.google/) and sends the hostnames and domain names needed for detection, as well as reverse-DNS queries for server IP addresses.
When retrieving public WHOIS registration information for a server IP address, the Extension communicates with the public API provided by RIPE NCC (https://stat.ripe.net/) and sends that IP address to the service.
To display service icons, the Extension communicates with Google’s favicon service (https://t0.gstatic.com/faviconV2) and sends the domain name of the detected service’s official website. The favicon request does not include the URL or hostname of the page the user is viewing.
DNS and WHOIS lookup results, and the detection results derived from them, are stored in the user’s browser storage (storage.session / storage.local) to make the display faster and more stable. These stored data are not sent externally.
The display data listed above (the result detected last time for a site, the service icons that have already been loaded, and the time of the last “Check again” run) is stored only in the browser’s localStorage and is likewise not sent externally. The Extension does not store the state of the popup itself, such as whether the details section is open or closed: it starts closed every time the popup is opened.
The Extension does not send user data to any server operated by the Extension developer. No external communication occurs other than with the public services described above.
The Extension does not track or analyze browsing history or user behavior. It does not include analytics tools or advertising.
The Extension does not sell or provide collected or stored information to third parties.
The Extension does not retrieve or execute code from external servers. All code that runs is included in the Extension package.
The hosting service, CDN, and mail service detection results displayed by the Extension are estimates based on public information. The Extension does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the results.
The Extension is not affiliated with any hosting company, cloud provider, mail service, Google Chrome, or the Chrome Web Store.
