Docx Editor: Document Reader (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is accessed, processed, stored, and shared when you use the App.
The App provides document reading, editing, creation, scanning, and export features without requiring an account. Core document editing works offline. The App contains advertisements and uses Google services for advertising, analytics, diagnostics, and app configuration.
1. Documents and Local Information
The App accesses documents and images you choose to open, create, edit, scan, save, or export. These files may contain personal information, depending on their contents.
Information stored locally may include document contents and metadata, file names, recent files, comments, document versions, templates, and app preferences.
Document editing and optical character recognition (OCR) are performed on your device. These features do not require uploading your document files to our servers.
Files may leave your device when you use sharing, external storage, backup, printing, or other services described below.
2. Advertising and Advertising ID
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements.
Google’s advertising services collect and process information such as:
- Android Advertising ID, app set ID, and other applicable identifiers.
- IP address, which may be used to estimate your approximate location.
- App and advertising interactions, such as launches, ad impressions, taps, and video views.
- Device information and diagnostic data related to app and advertising SDK performance.
This information is used to deliver and measure advertisements, support advertising analytics, and detect or prevent fraud and abuse.
Advertisements may be personalized or non-personalized depending on applicable requirements, your settings, consent choices, and service configuration. Non-personalized advertisements may still involve data processing for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.
For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
3. Analytics, Diagnostics, and App Configuration
The App uses the following Google services:
- Firebase Analytics: To understand app usage, screen visits, feature interactions, and advertising performance.
- Firebase Crashlytics: To identify crashes and technical problems using crash reports, error logs, installation identifiers, and relevant device and app information.
- Firebase Remote Config: To retrieve app configuration and adjust features. This service processes information such as installation identifiers, app and operating system versions, language, country code, and time zone.
These services help us understand usage, improve reliability, and manage app behavior. Their processing depends on the service configuration and applicable consent settings.
Further information is available in Firebase’s data disclosure documentation and Firebase’s privacy information.
4. Scanning and Text Recognition
The App uses Google ML Kit for document scanning and text recognition.
ML Kit processes scanned images and recognized text on your device. It does not send those input images or recognized text to Google servers as part of that processing.
ML Kit may contact Google to download components or updates and send technical information, including device and app information, identifiers, feature usage, performance metrics, and error codes. This information supports diagnostics, maintenance, and service improvement.
See ML Kit’s Terms and Privacy and data disclosure documentation.
5. Permissions and External Services
The App uses camera access when you choose to capture images or scan paper documents. It accesses documents and media as needed to perform the file operations you request. You can manage permissions through Android settings.
Some features interact with services outside the App:
- Opening or saving through Google Drive or another storage provider involves that provider.
- Sharing sends selected files to the app or recipient you choose.
- Printing passes document information to your selected printing service.
- Read aloud passes document text to your device’s text-to-speech service. Depending on its provider, voice, and settings, that service may process text using an internet connection.
- Android backup, synchronization, or device transfer may copy local files and settings according to your device configuration.
These services handle information under their respective privacy policies and settings.
6. Data Sharing
Information described in this policy is processed by Google and its relevant service providers to support advertising, analytics, diagnostics, configuration, and scanning services.
Files are also shared with external applications or services when you initiate an action such as sharing, exporting, printing, or saving to a storage provider.
We do not sell your document files or provide their contents to advertisers as part of the App’s document editing and OCR features.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Local documents and related app data remain on your device until you delete them or remove the relevant app data.
Documents moved to Recently Deleted are retained for 30 days and become eligible for permanent deletion by the App’s automatic cleanup process.
You can delete local documents through the App or your device’s file management tools. Clearing app storage or uninstalling the App removes app-specific data, subject to Android’s behavior. Exported files, shared copies, externally stored documents, and backups may remain and must be deleted separately.
Advertising, analytics, and diagnostic information is retained according to the relevant service’s retention practices and our configured retention settings.
Uninstalling the App does not automatically delete information previously processed by external services. You may contact us about deletion requests, and we will address them within our capabilities and applicable legal requirements.
8. Your Privacy Choices
You can use Android’s advertising settings to reset or delete your Advertising ID, where supported. Available controls and menu locations vary by device and Android version. These controls do not necessarily stop all advertising or diagnostic data processing. Google’s Advertising ID guidance.
You can also manage app permissions, device backups, storage provider settings, and any advertising consent choices presented in the App.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal information. Contact us using the details below to submit a request.
9. Security
The App uses Android’s permission and storage protections for local information. The Google SDKs described in this policy use encrypted connections to transmit collected service data.
The security of exported documents, backups, and shared files also depends on the storage locations and services you choose. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
10. Support Communications and Children’s Privacy
If you contact us, we receive your email address and any information or attachments you voluntarily provide. We use this information to respond to your request and retain it only as needed to handle the inquiry or meet applicable legal obligations.
Please avoid sending sensitive documents unless necessary for your support request.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
11. Changes and Contact Information
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or its information handling practices change. Updates will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Additional notice will be provided where required.
