The following snippet will run the document editor but to make the most of it check out the comprehensive tutorial which explains step by step how to configure and style the application for the best editing experience.

The main difference between using a multi-root editor and using multiple separate editors is the fact that in a multi-root editor all editable areas belong to the same editor instance share the same configuration, toolbar and the undo stack, and produce one document.

Important notes

Plugins denoted with an asterisk (*) are essential for the editor to work and should never be removed.

The two list plugins denoted with a plus (+) can only be used separately.

The document lists feature is required by the import from Word plugin to run correctly.

After playing around with the new responsive layout, I got affected by some creative frenzy and decided I would do some document editor that emulates Google Docs, but with boxed paragraph element like on the WordPress or Wix Blog Post Editor (it lets you add new sections, like paragraphs).

Basically if you want a document to be formatted in a certain way then confluence is not the tool to use. I would go as far to say that its unusable for document editing.

After looking into this its a common issue thats been reported multiple times... Atlassian don't seem to care as they are not doing anything about it and actually advise to link to gists instead of using their editor.. why pay for confluence then? lazy devs I guess!

Anyone else had a bad experience with the document editor?

I have been a long term fan of FrameMaker (the gold standard for documentation), but I fully support using Confluence for documentation because of the collaboration, then creating user macros, and custom CSS to get the look and features I need.

To add to Tobias' statement -- because of the issue of users pasting in HTML into documents (div and span tags being the bigger offenders), I strongly recommend that admins (or those responsible for documentation) install the source editor plug in. It has saved me many times, especially with its RegEx search capabilities.

The only time I have seen things like that is when a document has been created by being imported from a Word document. There is often weird stuff brought into it behind the scenes that rears its ugly head when you backspace or try to clear blank lines. If you are experiencing issues like that my hunch would be that it was imported from Word. Typically when I do for stuff that needs to come from word is either use the Word macro to render the document out to a page or first copy and paste into a text editor that doesn't do any rich formatting. Then I copy and paste into Confluence and reformat it.

This is why I am a huge advocate for the confluence-source-editor. It allows me to clear out the span and div tags using RegEx in an imported document, saving a lot of reformat work. It also allows me to get rid of the spasmodic double spaces after periods. ;-)

Summary:  Skyline is a Windows client application for targeted proteomics method creation and quantitative data analysis. It is open source and freely available for academic and commercial use. The Skyline user interface simplifies the development of mass spectrometer methods and the analysis of data from targeted proteomics experiments performed using selected reaction monitoring (SRM). Skyline supports using and creating MS/MS spectral libraries from a wide variety of sources to choose SRM filters and verify results based on previously observed ion trap data. Skyline exports transition lists to and imports the native output files from Agilent, Applied Biosystems, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Waters triple quadrupole instruments, seamlessly connecting mass spectrometer output back to the experimental design document. The fast and compact Skyline file format is easily shared, even for experiments requiring many sample injections. A rich array of graphs displays results and provides powerful tools for inspecting data integrity as data are acquired, helping instrument operators to identify problems early. The Skyline dynamic report designer exports tabular data from the Skyline document model for in-depth analysis with common statistical tools.

I developed a feature in ServiceNow called document editor. The feature allows you to edit an attachment(MS files such as excel, Word and PPT) directly in the browser using an integration in between MS drive(Business and individual both) and serviceNow. Below is the image showing working demo:

You can group information in a document using the Grouping panel, located above the Layout area in the Document Editor interface. Grouping records together helps users who read the document to understand the data better. Grouping the data sets up a type of hierarchy within the document, and an inherent or implied sort order for the data. The data is first sorted by the leftmost field in the Grouping panel, then by the next field, and so on. To reorder the grouping, you can rearrange the items in the Grouping panel.

To add a group, drag and drop any attribute, consolidation, or custom group from the Dataset Objects panel onto the Grouping panel. This adds a corresponding pair of header and footer sections to the Layout area. For background information on grouping, including examples, steps to change the grouping order in a document, showing totals for a group, and so on, see the Grouping and Sorting chapter in the Document Creation Help.

When a user views a grouped document, drop-downs are displayed to allow the user to select which elements, or subsets of data, to display. For an example, see Grouping Documents: Page-By. You can select which attribute forms are displayed in the list, and the order of the forms. To do this, click the group in the Grouping panel, point to Attribute Forms, and select Custom. The Attribute Forms dialog opens, displaying a list of available forms to choose from. For detailed steps, see the Document Creation Help.
