Iurii S. Rudyk – Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacogenetics of Non-communicable Diseases, holder of Habilitation degree in Medicine, Professor.

Scientific experience - 45 years.  Clinical experience - 38 years.

EDUCATION AND SCIENTIFIC TRAININGS

In 1986, graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the Kharkiv Medical Institute and entered the clinical residency of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Therapy under the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in the specialty "Cardiology".  In 1990, graduated from the evening department of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Kharkiv State University. 

In 1991, defended his PhD thesis on the subject “The role of calmodulin in the regulation of Ca-ATPase activity of erythrocytes in patients with coronary heart disease in the dynamics of antianginal therapy”. 

Awarded scholar of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Award (1993-1995). 

 In 2003, defended his doctoral thesis on the subject “The Role of bacterial and viral infection in the manifestation of atherosclerosis and its course.”  

The title of Professor of Medicine was awarded to him in 2020. 

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

Since 1988, has been working at the Institute as a junior researcher at the Department of Atherosclerosis and its complications. 

Since 1991 - senior researcher, Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, Institute of Therapy, Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. 

Since 2001, Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy (since 2016 - Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmocogenetics of Non-communicable Diseases). Has the highest category in cardiology.   Scientific experience of 30 years, clinical experience of 32 years.  The title of Professor of Medicine was awarded to him in 2020. 

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Main fields of scientific activity:

- formation of approaches to the individualized pharmacotherapy of chronic heart failure (CHF);

- pharmacogenetic aspects of using beta-blockers and methods for optimizing their use in patients with CHF;

- controlled clinical trials to study pharmacotherapeutic efficacy and safety of drugs used in chronic diseases of the internal organs.

Deputy Chairman of the Ethics and Deontology Commission of the Institute. Participant in many congresses of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), conferences of the Heart Failure Association ESC, atherosclerosis and hypertension ESC, permanent participant of the National Congresses of Cardiologists of Ukraine, etc.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Member of the following associations: HFA of the ESC, the European Society on Atherosclerosis, the European Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation, Acute Cardiovascular Care Association. Chairman at the Kharkiv branch of the Ukrainian Heart Failure Association, member of the Heart Failure Working Group at the Ukrainian Cardiology Association.

Editor-in-chief of the “Rational Pharmacotherapy” journal, the editorial board member of the Ukrainian Therapeutic Journal, and others. Deputy Chairman of the “Clinical Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy” Problem Commission.

AWARDS AND HONOURS

Was awarded “Certificate of Appreciation by the Presidium of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”. Awarded the N.D. Strazhesko medal for achievements in public healthcare (2016) and Medal of Merit for Services to the Association of Cardiologists of Ukraine and personal contribution to the development of Medical Science in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases (2020).

PUBLICATIONS AND SCIENTIFIC PROFILES

Author of over 500 publications, 20 inventions, co-author of 20 manuals, reference books and instructional guidelines.
