Doc Search and Rescue is a browser extension that converts supported online documentation guides into searchable PDF documents.
Your documentation stays on your device. The extension does not operate a document-processing server, collect analytics, display advertisements, or sell user information.
When you initiate an export, Doc Search and Rescue may access:
The URL and structure of the documentation page you're viewing.
Documentation topics, navigation information, text, tables, and images needed to assemble the guide.
Limited technical information necessary to detect errors and support troubleshooting.
Website access is initiated by the user and requires the appropriate browser permissions.
Documentation is retrieved directly from the website using your existing browser session and processed locally on your device.
The extension does not upload documentation to the developer or an external conversion service.
Generated PDFs are saved locally through your browser. The developer does not receive copies.
Documentation websites may maintain their own normal access logs, independently of the extension.
The extension uses your browser's existing authenticated session when accessing protected documentation.
It does not request, extract, or store passwords, authentication cookies, or token values.
Users may optionally download a troubleshooting report containing technical diagnostics, such as error categories, response information, processing times, and documentation resource paths.
These reports deliberately exclude raw HTML, document body text, credentials, authentication tokens, and image contents.
Reports are not automatically transmitted to the developer. Users should review them before voluntarily sharing them because resource paths and technical details may still be sensitive.
Doc Search and Rescue may include an optional link to Buy Me a Coffee.
Opening this link is entirely voluntary. Payments are handled externally by Buy Me a Coffee under its own privacy practices. The extension does not collect or process payment information.
The extension retains guide content temporarily in browser memory while processing documents. Closing or resetting the workspace clears this temporary information.
PDFs and troubleshooting reports that you download remain on your device until you choose to delete them.
The developer does not receive or store your documentation, browsing history, or generated PDFs.
You can decline or revoke website permissions, cancel an export, close the workspace, delete downloaded files, or uninstall the extension.
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
