PDFileScan Privacy Policy

PDFileScan ("the App", "we", "us") is a document scanning and PDF editing application developed by AjWorld. This Privacy Policy explains what information PDFileScan collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. This policy applies only to the PDFileScan app.

1. OVERVIEW

PDFileScan is designed to work primarily on your device. Scanning, image editing, OCR (text recognition), and PDF creation all happen locally on your phone. Your documents, scans, and files are not uploaded to our servers and we do not have access to their content. We do not require you to create an account to use the app.

We do use a small number of trusted third-party services (listed below) for advertising, purchases, and app stability, which collect limited technical information as described in this policy.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.1 Information you provide

PDFileScan does not require registration, sign-up, or login. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number through the app. If you contact us directly by email for support, we will have the email address and message content you send us.

2.2 Your documents and scans

Documents, photos, scans, PDFs, signatures, and any content you create or import in PDFileScan are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload, view, or store this content on our servers. If you choose to share a file (e.g. via email, WhatsApp, cloud storage) using your device's own share feature, that transfer is controlled by you and the receiving app/service, not by PDFileScan.

2.3 Automatically collected information

When you use PDFileScan, the following technical information may be automatically collected by us and our service providers:

- Device information (device model, operating system version, language, screen size)

- Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / AD_ID), used for showing and measuring ads

- App usage data (screens viewed, features used, session length, button taps) collected through Google Firebase Analytics

- Crash and error diagnostic data (crash logs, stack traces, device state at time of crash) collected through Google Firebase Crashlytics, to help us fix bugs and improve stability

- Approximate, non-precise location (such as country/region, derived from IP address) may be used by our advertising partner for ad relevance. PDFileScan does not request or access GPS/precise location.

We do not link this technical information to your name or identity, and we do not sell your personal information.

3. PERMISSIONS USED BY PDFILESCAN

PDFileScan requests the following device permissions:

- Camera / Scanning: used to scan documents and ID cards. Scanning is handled by Google's on-device document scanning module; captured images are processed and stored on your device.

- Internet access: required to show ads, process in-app purchases, sync purchase status, and send analytics/crash data described above.

- Storage (Android 9 and below only): used to save exported PDFs and images to your device's Downloads folder. On Android 10 and above, PDFileScan uses Android's scoped storage and does not need this permission.

- Advertising ID (AD_ID): used to show and personalize ads, and measure ad performance.

- Biometric hardware (optional, if you enable App Lock): used only to unlock the app using your device's fingerprint or face recognition.

PDFileScan does not request contacts, microphone, precise location, or SMS permissions.

4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES WE USE

PDFileScan uses the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

- Google AdMob — shows in-app advertisements. May use the advertising ID and approximate, non-precise location to show relevant ads.

- Google Play Billing — processes in-app purchases and subscriptions (see Section 6). Payment details (card numbers etc.) are handled entirely by Google Play and are never seen or stored by us.

- Google Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous app usage statistics to help us understand feature usage and improve the app.

- Google ML Kit / Google Play services — powers on-device document scanning, text recognition (OCR), and related features. Processing happens on your device.

5. ADVERTISING AND YOUR CHOICES

PDFileScan shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the free version of the app available. If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another region with similar requirements, you will be shown a consent form (via Google's UMP) where you can choose whether to allow personalized ads.

You can:

- Opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization, or Settings > Privacy > Ads on newer Android versions).

- Remove ads entirely by purchasing PDFileScan Premium (see below).

6. IN-APP PURCHASES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS

PDFileScan offers an optional Premium upgrade with a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription (which may include a free trial), and a one-time lifetime purchase. All purchases are processed by Google Play Billing.

- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.

- You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime from the Google Play Store app under Subscriptions.

- We do not receive or store your payment card details; these are handled entirely by Google Play.

7. BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION (APP LOCK)

If you enable the optional App Lock feature, PDFileScan uses your device's built-in biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition) through the Android operating system. Your biometric data is processed and stored entirely by your device's operating system. PDFileScan never receives, transmits, or stores your biometric data.

8. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

Your documents, scans, and settings are stored locally in the app's storage on your device. We take reasonable technical measures to protect any information transmitted to our third-party service providers (Section 4), but no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

Your documents and files remain on your device until you delete them within the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling PDFileScan removes all locally stored documents, scans, and app data from your device. Technical data collected by our third-party services (Sections 2.3 and 4) is retained by those providers according to their own retention policies.

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

PDFileScan is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate action.

11. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS (EEA, UK AND SIMILAR REGIONS)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar data protection laws, you have the right to:

- Access the information we hold about you

- Correct inaccurate information

- Request deletion of your information

- Restrict or object to certain processing

- Request a copy of your information in a portable format

- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, ad personalization consent given through the UMP consent form), without affecting processing already carried out

Legal basis for processing: we rely on your consent for ad personalization and analytics (which you can withdraw as described in Section 5), and on our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure, stable, and free of bugs for crash diagnostics.

Since PDFileScan does not collect personal identity information directly, most of your data (your documents) is already fully in your control on your device. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 15. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

12. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS (CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS — CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

- Know what categories of personal information we collect and how it is used (see Section 2)

- Request deletion of personal information we hold about you

- Correct inaccurate personal information

- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising

- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

We do not sell your personal information for money. Our use of the advertising identifier through Google AdMob to show relevant ads may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out of this at any time using the ad personalization controls listed in Section 5, or by contacting us using the details in Section 15.

13. DO NOT TRACK

Some browsers and devices support a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no accepted industry standard for how apps should respond to this signal, PDFileScan does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. You can still control ad personalization and tracking using the settings described in Section 5.

14. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Our third-party service providers (Google AdMob, Firebase, Google Play Billing, Google Play services) may process data on servers located in countries other than your own, including the United States, in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data transfer safeguards.

15. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of PDFileScan after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
