DLINKROUTER.LOCAL SET UP :
Dlinkrouter.local redirects you to an ip address 192.168.0.1 ,in order to set up a dlink router launch a web browser and type 192.168.0.1 in address bar of your browser, a login screen will appear use username as admin & default password is blank .
If you are getting any error message like bad gateway or page cannot be displayed try 192.168.0.1 instead of classic web address www.dlinkrouter.local
DLINK ROUTER SET UP :
In order to set up dlink router for the first time lauch a web browser and type dlinkrouter.local in address bar of your browser or type ip address 192.168.0.1 , a login screen will appear ,use default login as admin and password as blank
In case of new dlinkrouters ,new set up wizard will guide you through a list of set up process , to set up your router ,it will take a minute or two for your router to detect the type of internet connection ,in case of pppoe connections user need to enter login & password details as provided to him by internet service provider, in case of static ip connections, user need to enter ip address &dns server address to set up the router.
WifiSettings : For both connections type in case of ac series routers select a new ssid for 2.4 as well as 5ghz network , network security key should be 8-32 characters, wpa2 security type is recommended in case of dlink routers
Troubleshooting DlinkRouter :
WEB BASED CONFIGURATION UTILITY ERROR (PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED OR 192.168.0.1 IS NOT AVAILEBLE
FIX : When you enter ip address of router 192.168.0.1 or when you try to access dlink router login page using classic web address dlinkrouter.local you might receive an error message such as page cannot be displayed or bad gateway error
1.Make sure you are using java enabled browser ,it is recommended to use any updated version of internet explore, google chrome or Mozilla firefox
2.Verify the connectivity by checking lights on the router , make sure you get solid link lights on the router
3.Disable all the firewalls or active security softwares if any , antivirus such as MacAfee ,Norton ,Avast,Kaspersky block connections to private connections as well as they also block access to all router login websites like dlinkrouter.local in case of dlink routers
WIFI SET UP :
In order to set up wireless network name & password in case of dlinkrouters ,launch a web browser type dlinkrouter.local in address bar of your browser or use an ip address (default) 192.168.0.1 in address bar of your browser , alogin screen will appear use login username as admin & password field is blank, under wireless settings you can update 2.4 & 5 ghzssid network name and network key passphrase , network key password shoulb be atleast 8 characters minimum.
MTU SET UP :
In case of cloud based dlinkrouters , certain websites, email receive /sent issues might cause problem to user , in such cases it is recommended to lower MTU VALUES ON ROUTER to either 1492,1482,1472.launch a web browser type dlinkrouter.local in address bar of browser , a login screen will appear use username as admin & password field is blank, under set up options you can update MTU values >>then click save settings option.
DLINK ROUTER FIRMWARE UPGRADE :
In order to get best performance from router it is recommended to update router firmware to latest. Upgraded firmwares eliminate all bugs which might be there in existing firmware. To update dlink router firmware launch a web browser and use classic web address dlinkrouter.local to access dlink router web management page, under advanced settings you can easily update router firmware to latest .
