Maria Inês, aka DJ Marinês, is a Portuguese-born DJ and vinyl collector based in Turin, and a key figure in the city’s Brazilian music scene. Her journey into Brazilian music began in Lisbon, where she discovered a deep connection to the rich culture of Northeast Brazil through Forró dance. As her passion for the music grew, so did her interest in DJing, inspired by the rhythms, sounds and traditions of the region.

Since 2022, she has been the resident DJ of Forró di Torino, where she also serves as vice-president of the cultural association. Her sets are rooted in the traditional sounds of Forró, with a particular focus on the music of the 1970s and its strong funk influences. Alongside Forró, she explores samba, coco, arrastapé and other Brazilian rhythms, creating vibrant musical journeys made for both listening and dancing.

Marinês’ approach is inspired by her experience as both a DJ and dancer, blending Brazilian musical traditions with her own perspective and energy.
