The workshop on Distributed Intelligent Systems (DistInSys) was established to address the growing need for intelligent, distributed, and cooperative computational frameworks capable of operating across heterogeneous and large-scale environments. Over the years, DistInSys has evolved into a focused venue for discussing architectures, algorithms, and applications that enable distributed decision-making, federated learning, and multi-agent coordination in complex cyber-physical ecosystems.
DistInSys 2026, in its 6th edition, is organized in association with the 31st IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (IEEE ISCC 2026).
ISCC takes place annually, typically in the Mediterranean region, bringing together researchers and practitioners from the fields of computer science, communications, and distributed systems. In 2026, the Symposium will be held in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal, from the 23rd to the 26th of June 2026. For more information about the main conference please visit: ISCC 2026.
The focus of DistInSys 2026 is on distributed intelligence across the computing continuum, including federated and distributed learning, swarm and multi-agent systems, distributed physical AI, and trustworthy autonomous systems. Particular attention is devoted to scalable and privacy-aware learning paradigms, hierarchical and hyperdistributed architectures, cooperative perception and planning, and intelligent coordination in robotics, autonomous vehicles, satellite systems, and cyber-physical infrastructures.
The workshop aims to disseminate advances in both theoretical foundations and practical applications, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue on how distributed intelligent systems can address emerging societal, industrial, and environmental challenges.
