Saturday 13th June 2020 is Ukulele Day in Diss.
A day of ukulele activities and fun on the Norfolk - Suffolk border. Hosted by The Waveney Valley Folk Collective and based around the United Reformed Church (IP22 4AD), daytime activities will include:- (click on the titles in the left-hand side-bar for full details of each event)
A Big Busk (11.30 a.m.) by The Mere (small lake) - Uke East 2018 Songbook. This will be led by members of Blue Luna from Norwich. Download the songbook here:- Songbook 2020
Workshops Strumming with Ralph Shaw (2.00 p.m.) who will be headlining our Evening Concert and Rock & Roll Ukulele with Pete Arnold (3.30 p.m.) Pete is Director of The Hub - Diss Music School and leader of Ukaholics Anonymous , a weekly social ukulele group who meet in Diss
(£5.00 per workshop, payable on the day)
Open Mic session (5.00 - 6.00 p.m.) - a chance to showcase your talents. Just turn up at 5.00 to put your name on the list.
EVENING CONCERT IN THE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH - IP22 4AD - 7.30 p.m. Advance tickets £10 from Diss Ukulele Day Tickets or £12 on the door
Ralph Shaw - After a long spell living in Canada, Ralph is back in the UK and we are delighted to have booked him to headline our concert. Ralph’s style is inspired by the British Music Hall era and his songs thrill audiences with romance and laughter. His work, including five solo albums, 4 teaching DVDs and two acclaimed books, have played a crucial role in creating the current worldwide ukulele boom. ralphshaw.ca/
Daisy & The Continentals - Homegrown in Diss' own weekly Ukaholics Anonymous sessions, "Daisy" play classic jug-band music on a variety of instruments, including the Kazoosaphone, the Doesn't -Matter-Horn and the U-Bendaphone

Please note - No alcohol is allowed in the church. Tea and coffee (and a place to relax) will be available all day and there are plenty of pubs, cafés and restaurants in Diss.
