Privacy Policy

Open Sourcerer ("we," "our," or "us") creates and distributes watch faces for Wear OS devices. Each watch face also has a phone app in the same Google Play listing. This Privacy Policy applies to all Wear OS watch faces and phone apps developed by Open Sourcerer. 

Data Collection and Usage

Our applications are designed to respect your privacy. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data from our users.

Watch faces

To provide full functionality, our watch faces may access and display the following information provided by the device system in real-time:

• Time and Date

• Battery level

• Step count (Physical Activity)

• Heart rate (Body Sensors)

• Complication data (as selected by the user)

All information accessed is processed locally on your Wear OS device for display purposes only.

Phone apps

The phone app has no account, no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking. What it uses, and why:

• Pictures and the catalogue: to show the watch faces, their styles and their wallpapers, the app downloads them from our website. As with any website, the server sees each request (your IP address and the file asked for); the app sends nothing else, and we do not use these requests to identify you.

• Camera (the try-on): the try-on uses your phone’s camera, or a photo you pick, to place the watch face on your wrist. The camera runs only while the try-on is open and only after you allow it. Every camera frame and every picked photo is processed on your phone, in memory, and then discarded: no image or video is kept, and none is sent anywhere. A picture is made only when you press the shutter, and it is saved or shared only when you choose to.

• New-face notifications: if you turn on ‘Tell me about new faces’, the app checks the same catalogue at most once a week and shows a notification when a new face is added.

• Your watches and your collection: to open a face on your watch, the app asks your phone which Wear OS watches are paired with it, through Google’s own Wear OS connection. To show your collection, and to give the install steps that suit your watch, it checks which other Open Sourcerer apps and which watch apps (such as Galaxy Wearable) are installed on this phone. These answers stay on your phone.

• Wallpapers, saving and sharing: setting a wallpaper, rotating wallpapers and saving a picture to Photos happen on your phone, and only when you ask. When you share a picture or a link, Android’s share sheet sends it to the app you choose; we never see it.

• Your settings: your choices, such as the theme, your watch’s size and notifications, are kept on your phone.

Data Processing

• No Transmission: We do not send any user data to external servers or third parties. The only thing that leaves your phone is the phone app’s request for our public catalogue and pictures, described above.

• No Storage: We do not store any health or personal data.

Data Retention and Deletion

• Retention: Since we do not collect or store any personal data on external servers, no user data is retained by Open Sourcerer. 

• Deletion: As all data is processed locally, users have full control over their data. You can "delete" or stop the data access at any time by:

  • Uninstalling the watch face from your Wear OS device, or the phone app from your phone, which also removes the phone app’s settings.

  • Revoking permissions (Sensors or Physical Activity on the watch; Camera or Notifications on the phone) through the device’s Settings menu.
