We learned the basics of giving first aid during emergency situations. I enjoyed practicing the CPR so much that I did not remember to count! :-D
We saw the Banaue Rice Terraces in person and I realized how difficult it was to build it and to plant and harvest rice from it. It made me think that I should not waste the rice and vegetables that are given to me because our farmers work hard to produce those.
We learned from our friends how to plant Mangrove Trees along the shore. You just have to get a seed pod of the Mangrove and plant the pointed end of the pod by sticking it into the sand. How simple could that be!
We designed and built a hotel for the little hermit crabs that we found along the beach in Cemento, Baler with our friends. We called it the Crab and Isopod Hotel. We used the shells that we found as balconies for each room in the hotel and rocks to support the hotel so it will not collapse. We also place a pool in the middle of the hotel.
Here are more pictures of the sand hotel that we built!
I learned from the story of Harriet that she believed in God and she cared deeply for her children that she sold her precious work so that she could provide for their needs.
I learned how to do running and cross stitches during our Coop's session with Tita Sheela. I think I am now ready to sew because I have better control of my hands.
I love inventing delicious snacks and this one was a hit! I thought of using some ingredients that we usually use for pizza like cheese and pepperoni and made it into a sandwich. But here's a better twist to this dish - I used raisin bread and spicy pepperoni. The sweetness of the raisins blended well with the saltiness of the cheese and spiciness of the pepperoni. Yummy!!! You should try it!
I learned how to download a picture file from the internet and paste it in a Word document.
