I learned so much about the planet Saturn and how it was discovered by Galileo Galilei and Christian Huygens. Mommy couldn't help but interrupt but praise God, I was not bothered by it!
I made a Venn diagram showing the similarity and difference of the planets Jupiter and Saturn.
I learned that iron is the strongest metal.
When my cousins visited us, I invited him to catch some insects outside of our house. We caught a spider and observed it closely with our magnifying glasses. Oh how my cousin Nikoy enjoyed it!
I caught a grasshopper, which I thought at first was a long-horned grasshopper. We found out later on that it was a common stick grasshopper. Cool!
After catching a grasshopper, I was able to catch another insect but we couldn't identify it. I hope to catch the same insect soon so we can properly identify it.
I caught another grasshopper that same morning. This time it was color green.
I didn't stop catching insects that morning. I caught two ladybugs that had different colors. Oh what a productive day of seeing, catching and identifying insects!
We found a mysterious worm outside of our house. Later on, Mommy taught me that it was a New Guinea flatworm that is a danger to pets and people. Yikes! It was a good thing that we did not touch it!
I learned that some of our clothes are made from the wool of sheep. I also learned that we should take good care of them and the other animals because God gave them for us to live.
I learned how paper is made and realized how all great things come from lowly things. I also learned that I should take care of the things around us because hard work has been put into making these things.
We read about metamorphosis and even though I am already familiar with it, I realized how God can turn ugly creatures into beautiful ones just like how He can change sinners like us to become more like Christ.
I learned how larvae of insects are big eaters. Some of them are helpful in cleaning up rotting things while some are considered pests. I also learned that they are not like mammals because they go through metamorphosis while mammals just grow but do not change in form.
I learned about the silkworms and how their cocoons are used as material to make the silk fabric. I feel sad that to make silk cloths, a creature that can become a butterfly is killed before it even becomes a butterfly.
We learned about metamorphosis and although I am already familiar with it, I still learned so many things about it. I find it ouchy but at the same time amusing that butterflies crack open the chrysalis with their eyes. Ouch! But that is their God-given instinct to change into a beautiful butterfly.
I learned that spiders have thousands of spinnerets and they work hard to make a web just to catch their food. I also learned that spiders should not be feared because they help in keeping away mosquitoes.
I learned about Neptune, the last big planet in our Solar System, and how similar it is to Uranus.
I learned how the Epeira spider amazingly builds its web bridge without having to cross the river. It is a very clever spider, even more clever than we are, because God has given it that instinct to survive.
