We read Genesis 21:22-34 and I observed how Abimelech seemed to fear God as he has pointed out how God was with Abraham in all that he did.
From Genesis 22, I learned that God knows who believes in Him. I also learned that He is good, is not vengeful, loves His people and is our great Provider.
I was able to remember a lot of details from Genesis 25. I felt sad that Abraham married another woman in his old age.
From Genesis 25, I also learned that God is so gracious to Abraham. Even when Abraham sinned against God many times, God allowed him to have many sons before he passed away.
Praise God! I made friends with a little boy named Liam and was able to share with him how we need God because we are a sinful people. At first, I really found him annoying but with some encouragement from Mommy, I learned how to be patient with him and to give my attention to him, like he was my little brother. Eventually, we became good friends!
With Daddy's guidance, I was able to understand the sermon passage from Acts 22:30-23:11 and was able to choose an appropriate Psalm for our call to worship that Sunday. First, I prayed, then read the book of Acts. I then observed about Paul and what encouragement did the Lord give him. Lastly, I looked for a Psalm that connects to my observations. I chose Psalm 144:2, 9-11, because I thought that we should worship the Lord who protects us in every situation.
This is what I remembered when we read Genesis 28:10-22.
We read John 6:31-40 and I learned why Jesus is called the Bread of Life. It is because sin is like hunger that leads to death and Jesus is the One who saves us from eternal death. I also realized why sin is a greater danger than experiencing starvation. While hunger kills only the flesh, sin leads to eternal death, which kills not just the body but also our souls.
We read Genesis 29 and I realized how all the people who were in this passage sinned against the Lord. I also saw how merciful and loving God is when He comforted Leah by opening her womb and giving her children.
We read Exodus 20:1-21 and these are the other commandments that I learned aside from what Yumi already recalled.
I learned from Genesis 30:1-24 that many of man's ways are bad but God's ways are always good and righteous. God also uses our bad ways to make something good out of it.
We read Genesis 31 and I learned from there how God protected Jacob from Laban by speaking to Laban in his dream. In the end, they made a covenant to each other and parted ways in peace.
We read Exodus 27:1-8 and we learned about God's instructions to Moses about the alter, where the animals were sacrificed for the sins of the people of Israel. I remember the story of Isaac, when he was about to be sacrificed on an altar but then God stopped Abraham and provided a ram to replace Isaac.
I learned from Psalm 72:4-8 that Jesus is life. We are like the plants and He is the water that makes us grow. I also learned that He will judge the oppressor of a righteous man.
I have finished one devotional book and have been reading a new one. Praise God for the many things that I am learning on my own about Him and His Word!
