I learned how the stars help us navigate at night as the sun guides us during the day.
I learned about the Spartans and their bravery. I also learned how they viewed women as weaker than men.
I learned about what the winds bring.
I admire the cleverness of the Athenians in being able to defeat the Persians even when the Spartans did not help them. I thought that the Spartans should have helped the Athenians instead of choosing to celebrate a feast.
I learned how our planet shines like the stars but in a different way. The stars have its own light like the sun but our planet only reflects the sun's light.
I learned about the Olmecs, an ancient civilization in the Americas. They are like the Egyptians because they have slaves that do most of the hard work for them. They left huge head sculptures but did not leave tablets or writings about them.
We read about Robinhood and I thought that he was not really a good person because he likes money. While he gives some money to the poor, sometimes he also asks for money for himself only
I also thought that Robinhood could do the right thing by working to earn some money to give to the poor instead of stealing from the rich. If he was really good, he would do something difficult to give the poor what they need.
I learned about the traditional stories about the beginnings of the great Rome. I noticed how similar the story was with the story of Moses, how he was put in a basket in a river and spared from the Pharaoh's planned murder, and how he was adopted by another person so that one day he would become the leader of his nation.
I really felt sad about the story of the beginning of Rome. It was sad that Romulus killed his own twin brother just so he could have the power to rule the land.
I learned about the Etruscans who taught the Romans about the Greek language and traditions. I also learned that only the rich Romans were able to choose their leaders and participate in making laws. This is very different from how all Athenians, rich or poor, could cast their votes in making laws and choosing their leader. I thought at first that the Athenians do not vote for a leader but later, Mom and I read about it again and figured that the Athenians also choose a leader.
We learned about Mohammed and Mohammedanism, and how the Spaniards started calling the followers of Mohammed, Moros.
I have been consistently working on our Book of Centuries and I often remember to write on it whenever there is something that I can write.
