I wanted to learn how to make scrambled eggs so I asked Mommy if she could teach me. I learned to, first, crack the eggs...
...then, to beat the eggs...
...and, finally, to cook perfectly seasoned and fluffy scrambled eggs. Yummy!!!
I practiced sorting and folding clothes.
Did I already tell you that I love eggs? Yes, I love to eat eggs and I love to cook eggs! So I thought of a name for a possible restaurant that serves yummy eggs... Sundew Cafe! Mornings are perfect for eating eggs and dew is also experienced in the morning. Like dew, a sunny sideup egg drips. Like the sun, a sunny sideup egg has a bright yellow yolk... Hence, Sundew Cafe! :-D Do you think it's a good name for a restaurant?
I had an idea of serving my cousins and grandparents some snacks like a restaurant does. So we went to the grocery to buy everything that we needed so we can serve the food and drinks we listed in the menu of our Sundew Cafe. But Mommy gave us an extra challenge...
We had to work on a budget of 200 pesos for all the things that we listed down! We went over our budget when we made our first round in the grocery so we had to look for cheaper options until we were able to fit everything below 200 pesos. My mental math skills in adding and multiplying prices were tested and I did it! Whew!
Here is what I learned from our grocery and budgeting exercise. :-)
And so we invited our cousins, uncle, aunt, and grandparents for the "opening of Sundew Cafe". You'll see here our team in action! I was the cook, Yumi was the one who prepared the breads and served the food, and Nanny Terry helped us slice cheeses and mix the calamansi juice in advance. Mommy was not home because she had to go out for a meeting. Praise God that everything went smoothly! We did it! We are very grateful for the overwhelming support of our family. Shout out to Lola Ann for being our videographer that day! Hearts!
After our "launching", I received a very encouraging feedback from my very supportive uncle who considers himself a foodie. Thanks Tito Nolan for your support! Glad you liked it! :-D
I had several attempts to learn how to make a sunny side up egg but haven't had a success. It's a work in progress. I decided that I should stick with serving scrambled eggs for the launching of Sundew Cafe. But I also gained a volunteer teacher, my Lola Noemi, who committed to teaching me how to make sunny side up! Yehey!
I started having fever during exam week so I had to be isolated in our room. When my fever started to go down, Yumi's fever started to go up so she had to join me in our room. I volunteered to be Yumi's nurse and initiated taking her temperature and jotting it down every so often. :-)
