Long ago, dinosaurs left footprints in the mud at the edge of an ancient ocean. Today, you can walk in their tracks in the bed of the Paluxy River. This long trip to the past is just a short drive from Fort Worth.

The exhibition hall features fossil bones of dinosaurs such as Apatosaurus and Allosaurus, along with robotic reconstructions of Dilophosaurus, Utahraptor, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus rex, and Stegosaurus. See life-size cast skeletal mounts of Velociraptor, Camarasaurus, Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, Othnielia, Camptosaurus, and Mymoorapelta. Compare your size to that of the shoulder blade of a Supersaurus, or compare the size of any dinosaur bone to that of Amphicoelias fragillimus, a dinosaur that dwarfs all others.

See the tiny Jurassic dinosaur Fruitadens and compare it to other dinosaurs that lived at the same time, such as Apatosaurus, a dinosaur that was perhaps a million times heavier than Fruitadens. We also have on display a large Triceratops skull, perhaps one of the largest specimens ever found. These exhibits plus dinosaur tracks, rocks, minerals, meteorites, fossil fish, and much much more are waiting at the Dinosaur Journey Museum!

This 11-acre, ocean-front, bluff-top park is popular with walkers, photographers, dog lovers, joggers, and fishing enthusiasts. Park amenities include a wedding location overlooking the ocean, as well as a grassy reception area, and an amphitheater for entertainment events. These features are available for rent on an hourly basis. A restroom and off-street parking are also offered. Additionally, a large unique play area is found in the park and includes a gentle dinosaur, two concrete dolphins, three beautiful dinosaur eggs, three playful seals, a tire swing, tot swing, and The USS IMAGINATION.

If you are into dinosaurs and fossils this park is for you. You can see real dinosaur footprints and impressions in the rocks. The fossils you will see are worth it. The gift shop was great with lots of interesting rocks at reasonable prices. Great place to go with kids or anyone interested in geology and dinosaurs.

Seeing dinosaur footprints and fossils in their natural environment is a drastically different experience from seeing them moved into an indoor museum. Highly recommend the short 1.5 mile walk through Dinosaur Ridge!

We love our corner of the state and we think you will too. We knew it would help if you had one more reason to stick around and experience our unique community nestled in the tracks of the dinosaurs. We neighbor the beautiful canyon lands of the Dinosaur National Monument in our big back yard.

In April the local Fire department hosted its Easter community event with a delicious pancake breakfast in the park and Easter egg hunt. Local police disguised as dinosaurs where seen chasing children in the park. Our Artesia Fire Department looks forward to bingo, and other events at the firehouse later this year.

Dilophosaurus is the dinosaur believed to have made the tracks that are on display in the Exhibit Center. The first large carnivorous dinosaurs appeared in the early Jurassic. The Eubrontes tracks, which are the most abundant large fossil track found in the central valley of Connecticut, are attributed to an 18 to 20-foot long predator. This ceratosaur quite likely was related to Dilophosaurus.

More than two miles of trails at Dinosaur State Park cover a variety of habitats, including a red maple swamp and shrub swamp and meadows. The forest area has sugar maple, birch, hickory, oak and beech trees. A traprock ridge reveals broken pieces of basaltic rock that once flowed as hot lava covering the habitat of Connecticut's dinosaurs.

Dinosaur State Park officially opened in 1968, two years after 2,000 dinosaur tracks were accidentally uncovered during excavation for a new state building. Five hundred of the tracks are now enclosed within the Exhibit Center's geodesic dome. The remaining 1,500 are buried for preservation.

Discover the colossal Patagotitan mayorum. Four times heavier than Dippy the Diplodocus and 12 metres longer than Hope our blue whale, don't miss your chance to see this extraordinary dinosaur up close.

Through fieldwork and studying dinosaur fossils here and in collections around the world, Museum palaeontologists are shedding light on dinosaur diets and behaviour. Find out about their work and other intriguing dinosaur discoveries.

Since the 1930s, an 80-foot-long brontosaurus has straddled the city skyline on Dakota Hogback Ridge, which extends South straight into the Black Hills. Generations have come to visit our quirky long neck and seven other dinosaur friends. You can spot the brontosaurus from different spots around town and get the best views of the city from the top.

In addition to the skeletons, visitors can view dinosaur eggs, footprints, sculptures, murals, paleontologist tools, a life-size model showing the internal anatomy of a Stegosaurus, and a green-screen video studio where they can project their own images into a world full of dinosaurs.

More than 30 species of dinosaurs and other Mesozoic reptile can be found in the Academy's Dinosaur Hall. Click on one of the species names below to see illustrations by paleo-artist Robert F. Walters and find out more about some them.

And this cake, which ever-so-conveniently happens to be dinosaur-themed during the record-setting run of one of the most anticipated film releases of the year that also happens to be dinosaur-themed? Coincidence. Swearsies.

Tracing the entwined relationship of dinosaurs, capitalism, and culture during the Gilded Age, Rieppel reveals the outsized role these giant reptiles played during one of the most consequential periods in American history.

Some of the world's most significant dinosaur fossil quarries and museums are clustered along this route, in the midst of a forbidding but stunningly beautiful landscape. The earth, fractured and stained, coughs up a rare collection of treasures. Ancient stone rises to the surface after eons underground; skeletons buried 100 million years ago now bleach in the desert sun. The byway traverses high mountains and barren plateaus, with stops at two national parks, two national monuments, and two great rivers of the West(the Colorado and Green). This dramatic maze of rocks and bones defies the imagination.

Dinosaur Diamond was designated by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation as a National Scenic Byway in 2002. It is one of 13 America's Byways designated in Colorado.

Open for 50 years, this roadside attraction features over 50 dinosaurs, inviting visitors to step into the world of the prehistoric past, turning back the pages of time to the Mesozoic era, when dinosaurs were the only creatures that roamed the earth.

Preserved in the rocks of the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area is evidence that dinosaurs once roamed this area millions of years ago. Fossil footprints, or tracks, were first discovered in these sandstone cliffs in 1998, and are aiding scientists in their understanding of ancient life. When this track site was re-examined in 2012, paleontologists found 17 tracks and identified them as Grallator and Kayentapus. Eubrontes tracks can be seen near the end of the trail.

When dinosaurs left their footprints here 190 million years ago, the landscape of the southwest was in transition. Aridity was increasing; the large meandering rivers and shallow lakes that characterized an earlier geologic time were giving way to wind-blown seas of sand. The Red Cliffs Track Site occurs in the transition zone between the Kayenta Formation and Navajo Sandstone formed during the Jurassic Period. In this transition zone, river deposited siltstones, mudstones, and fine-grained sandstones typical of the Kayenta Formation are layered with crossed-bedded, windblown sandstone typical of Navajo Sandstone. The tracks here are in fine-grained sandstone and were probably left in the soft sediments of a stream or lake edge during a wetter climatic cycle.

Although paleontologists cannot tell from tracks which specific type of dinosaur made them, tracks can be tied to a general group of dinosaurs based on shape and size. This allows for names or ichnotaxa to be given to the track forms themselves. The three different types of tracks found in Red Cliffs have been identified as Grallator, Eubrontes, and Kayentapus. Paleontologists suggest the Grallator and Eubrontes tracks have been made by Megapnosaurus and Dilophosaurus. The dinosaur linked to the Kayentapus track remains unknown.

Tracks are trace fossils that are not actual parts of animals or plants, but objects or signs left behind by them. Other trace fossils include coprolites (mineralized feces) , gastroliths (stomach stones), and skin or feather impressions. There are three different types of track impressions: true tracks, under-tracks, and natural casts. True tracks are the initial imprint made by the dinosaur. Under-tracks are the layers beneath the true track which carry a less detailed impression. Natural casts are the sediments that fill the true track.

Within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, massive exposures of the Jurassic age Kayenta Formation and Navajo Sandstone that preserve scientifically important dinosaur tracks and trackways, bone beds, plant fossils, and silicified wood are conserved and protected for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations.

Once a year I try to make cookies for my dinosaur-obsessed little boy. I love the challenge of coming up with ideas that are the perfect combination of sweet and scary. These dinosaur feet cookies capture the best of both worlds.

You are so incredibly imaginative and creative. I just finished up a whole set of dinosaur cookies and then saw these and just giggled in delight. They are so absolutely fun! Thanks for sharing Callye!

My little dinosaur is proof that you can learn how to crochet with a Woobles kit. I managed to complete the project with just the videos, and now I feel confident enough to try other crochet patterns I find online. I bought a kit for my wife so she can join in the amigurumi fun. ff782bc1db
