Learner's License

A learners licence is an examination written at a registered test centre and is valid for 24 months. You must be at least 17 years old and be in possession of a valid I.D. document to be allowed to write the learners license examination. 

Dino's Driving School will assist with securing the booking of the test date for your learners license test. 

There is also a tutoring app and materials, that will assist you step by step, in understanding the k53 modules for the learners test. With readiness testing and evaluations to judge your progress.

Includes, Natis online booking, Study guides, and transport to book and write the test.

Only when you are in possession of a learners licence, you can legally drive the type of vehicle code your learners licence has been issued in, providing you are accompanied by a licensed passenger.

• You will need the following when making your learners licence appointment:

• Your original Identity document

• A copy of your Identity document ( NOT certified)

• 2 x ID photo’s

• R108 payable to the test station on making the appointment

• R60 payable in cash to the test station

• A black pen

 DRIVERS LESSONS

I, Dino, will assist you in obtaining your drivers license legally, by using the K53 system.  

I strive to make it enjoyable, comfortable, fun and adaptable. Learning how to drive is a step closer to independence, social connection and even income generating.

The training vehicle is equipped with a dual braking system, ABS braking system, power steering, aircon and airbags for the learner’s safety, the vehicle is also comprehensively insured. T’s&C’s apply.

Lessons will be given in your preferred language (English/Afrikaans/Greek).

Whether you are a complete beginner or whether you have been driving for a while, Your training will be planned according to your needs.  

 The aim of Dino's Driving School, is to make sure that students are truly road confident, and k53 test ready. The end result is not only a pass, but a skilled and safe road user, for your own safety, as well as the safety of your passengers and other road users.

Requirements

On the day of your test, you must have the following with you;

1. Original Learner License

2. Original Identity Document

3. Natis confirmation / booking document

On the test day, my services includes a 1,5 hour Pre Test Lesson, where Parkings will be covered, and then the testing route of the particular testing centre will be practiced. I will then make sure we arrive at the testing station at least 30 minutes before your scheduled test time. This will give you ample time to find parking, locate the test office, and calm any pre-test nerves. Once you arrive, head to the reception or the designated waiting area, and check in with the staff, they may take your documents, usually learner license and Natis confirmation document. They will confirm your appointment and provide you with any additional instructions.

The driver’s test in South Africa typically begins with the yard test. This portion assesses your ability to maneuver the vehicle in a controlled environment. You will be required to perform several tasks, such as:

• Pre trip inspection

• Parallel parking

• Alley docking

• Three-point turn

• Hill start

Each maneuver must be completed within the specified boundaries and without knocking over any poles / markers. Practice your parkings extensively, before your test to ensure you can perform them confidently.

If you successfully complete the yard test, you will proceed to the road test. The examiner will accompany you in the vehicle and direct you to drive on public roads. During the road test, you will be assessed on the K53 system.

Stay calm, and follow the examiner’s instructions, and drive as you have been taught. Remember to constantly check your mirrors and be aware of your surroundings.

After the road test, the examiner will score your performance based on a standardised checklist. You will receive immediate feedback on your test results. If you pass, you will be issued a temporary driving license, and your official license will be mailed to the traffic department for you to collect this can take between 6 to 8 weeks. If you do not pass, the examiner will provide feedback on areas where you need improvement. You can then immediately schedule a retest, however contact me when you make your booking to ensure vehicle availability.
