First Nation groups sometimes used young dingoes as protection. They would take them home from the wild and then train them, using them as protection against different animals and also used them to help them hunt. This is similar to how today we use dogs to help blind people walk, in airport security. and even in the military.
Dingoes helped Aboriginal people to catch small animals. They were also used to effectively hunt large animals like kangaroos, often when the oppotunity arose. The dingo also holds certain significance to First Nations culture, and represented dreaming, lore, law and customs. This is similar to how modern day people use star signs and Zodiac signs to shape who they are.
