I am a finance doctoral candidate at University of Houston. Prior to joining the PhD program, I worked in the finance industry for more than five years. I completed my bachelor's degree in computer science from University of Peradeniya and I am a CFA Charterholder.
My research interests include household finance, real estate, and economics of climate change. In my job market paper, I use two natural experiments and proprietary data to estimate the causal effect of collateral value on strategic default. My other research focuses on borrowers' default decision, behavioral biases in the housing market, and the socio-economic impact of climate change. My research has been accepted for presentation at conferences such as SFS Cavalcade, AFA (Ph.D. poster), AEA (poster), MFA, FMA, and Australasian Finance and Banking Conference.
