Summary: I am an Associate Professor of Mathematical Economics and Game Theory at the Department of Banking and Financial Management, University of Piraeus, where I currently serve as Department Chair.
My research lies at the intersection of game theory, financial economics, and market design. I am particularly interested in the strategic foundations of markets, auction and mechanism design, financial stability, banking, monetary exchange economies, and the role of strategic interaction in financial institutions and markets.
My recent research focuses on core-selecting and combinatorial auctions, the interaction between credit risk and monetary transactions, and game-theoretic approaches to banking and financial regulation.
Game Theory & Market Design
Strategic market games, mechanism design, auctions, combinatorial auctions and core-selecting mechanisms.
Banking & Financial Stability
Bank behaviour, financial fragility, credit risk, banking regulation and strategic interaction among financial institutions.
Monetary & Financial Economics
Monetary exchange economies, monetary policy, market liquidity and the interaction between monetary policy and financial stability.
Behavioural & Financial Decision Making
Behavioural banking, bargaining, financial decision making and the effects of behavioural factors on financial contracts.
with Lamprini Zarpala
We study core-selecting payment rules for combinatorial auctions in which payments are minimally adjusted towards a selected core-compatible revenue target. The approach seeks to combine the stability properties of core outcomes with the economic intuition of VCG pricing and stronger revenue performance.
