About me

Thanks for visiting my website. I am a Professor of Banking & Finance at the University of St Andrews Business School, University of St Andrews (UK) and a member of the Centre for Responsible Banking & Finance. Prior to joining the University of St Andrews in 2010, I held a position at the Department of Economics, Keele University. I graduated in 2009 from the Essex Business School, University of Essex with a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance.

My main research interests lie in the intersection of financial intermediation and corporate finance. I focus on understanding how banks set their payout policy in response to legal and institutional changes. Additionally, I delve into the examination of how taxes and levies influence bank behaviour, and the ramifications for the real economy. Finally, my work on liquidity regulation aims to unravel the impact of liquidity coverage ratio and related rules on bank behaviour. My research has been published in various journals including the British Journal of Management, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Stability.
