Dimitrios Argyros

Welcome to my website!

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at University College Dublin, Smurfit Business School, where I work on the Working in Ireland Survey — a national survey of employment, working conditions and wellbeing across the Irish labour market. I am also an External Affiliated Researcher at the Population Studies Center, University of Pennsylvania.

I am an applied microeconomist working at the intersection of health economics, demography and labour economics. My research examines how economic conditions and institutions shape health and wellbeing across the life course:  from early-life determinants of child health in low- and middle-income countries, to population ageing, to job quality, workers well-being and working conditions in high-income labour markets.

Previously I was a Lecturer at Dublin City University Business School, where I taught introductory Microeconomics and Macroeconomics to cohorts of over 500 students. I place great emphasis on teaching and am committed to fostering engaging and inclusive learning environments. Further details are available in my teaching portfolio.

I hold a PhD in Economics from University College Dublin and an MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick.

I have been co-organiser of the Young Irish-based Economists Seminar Series (YIESS),  a platform that brings together early-career economists across Ireland and beyond to present their work and build a vibrant research community.
