Barangay Salapungan, prior to the 2nd World War, is purely planted with talahib. The Dayrit family has owned wide and plenty lots in Angeles. They developed some road where people can use to pass- by narrow or streets were widened. They started calling the place as "Sitio Cruzada" or "Sitio Salingkuan" because of numerous entry and exit points. Salapungan came from Pampango word "Salapung" which means "Crossroads" But according. to some elders the other name was "Salang- Salang" because of its features of Crossroads. Brgy. Salapungan consist of 7 Purok.
