The DILG Angeles City, in collaboration with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), conducted a virtual refresher on the Barangay Environmental Compliance Audit (BECA) and the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) on April 10, 2025, to enhance barangay compliance with environmental standards and documentation.
In her message, DILG AC Director Yvette R. Cosio emphasized the importance of barangays in fostering sustainable practices at the local level, saying, "Environmental governance is part of good governance.”
LGOO III Elridge D. Barbaso presented the BECA guidelines to help barangays prepare for the upcoming assessment, while CENRO Head Jenifer S. Casto, along with personnel, discussed the forms and templates for proper reporting on solid and liquid waste parameters and informal settlers.
The refresher session was attended by Barangay Officials and Barangay Secretaries, reaffirming their commitment to effective environmental governance.
As a result of the session, participants reported a better grasp of the audit process and reporting requirements, enabling them to improve the accuracy and timeliness of their submissions and take a more proactive role in addressing solid and liquid waste issues at the barangay level.
