Welcome to DIGS!
The Downtown Intercultural Gardeners Society (DIGS) was founded in 2010 in order to build a welcoming, inclusive community garden, representative of our beautiful city's vibrant, diverse populace. We seek to grow organic vegetables and contribute to a healthy, sustainable food system in the midst of our bustling urban environment, while bringing people together and fostering a shared sense of community.
Located on the rooftop of St. Paul's hospital, DIGS is also an urban sanctuary for hospital patients, visitors, and staff. There's something healing about watching green things grow and flourish.
We are committed to these Core Values:
* Welcoming newcomers to Canada
* Organic vegetable gardening
* Intercultural communication, understanding, and knowledge-sharing
* Anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, anti-bigotry
* Peaceful and positive methods of conflict resolution
* Community engagement and improvement
We like to say that the word "community" comes before the word "garden."
If you'd like to join DIGS, please fill out our membership application in order to get on our wait list.

The Downtown Intercultural Gardeners Society (DIGS) is located on the 4th floor rooftop of the St. Paul's Hospital at 1081 Burrard Street. The main terrace is open to the public from 8 am to 7 pm. The cafeteria side close at 6 pm.
Three organizations were instrumental in envisioning the DIGS project and securing funding to get it started. DIGS would not exist today without the hard work of many individuals from these organizations.
