Gifted and Talented 

According to The Texas Education Agency (2019) a Gifted and Talented student means "a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibits high-performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area; possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or excels in a specific academic field."

Common traits/characteristics 

• Ability to comprehend material that belongs to higher grade levels 

• Strong sense of curiosity

• Absorbs information quickly

• Creative problem-solving 

Educational challenges:

Students may be bored or unexcited at various concepts if they are not adequately challenged in the classroom, so this requires teachers to identify students who exhibit common traits and characteristics so that they can deepen their interest in topics and further develop more learning skills in the classroom.

• Treat students as individuals

• Encourage self-directed learning 

• Let students pursue their interests and passions

• Encourage creative questioning
