DigitalKhata ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") is a personal khata book and friend-ledger application that helps you track money you lend to and borrow from friends, with optional interest calculations.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices available to you.
By using DigitalKhata, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
When you sign in using Google Sign-In, we receive your basic Google account information, including:
Name
Email address
Profile photo URL
We use this information solely to create, identify, and manage your DigitalKhata account.
We never receive or store your Google password.
DigitalKhata allows you to record money transactions with friends.
The information you enter may include:
Friend names
Phone numbers
Notes
Transaction amounts
Transaction dates
Money given or received
Interest settings
Categories and subcategories
Khata books ("Properties")
This information is stored securely with your account so it can sync across your devices.
If you choose to import friends from your phone contacts, DigitalKhata requests access to your contacts.
The app only accesses your contacts when you actively use the import feature.
We only save the contact(s) you select.
We do not upload or store your entire contact list.
You can deny or revoke contact permission at any time through your device settings. The app remains fully functional without this permission.
To improve stability and reliability, we collect limited technical information using Google Firebase, including:
Crash reports and error logs through Firebase Crashlytics
Device push notification token through Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
Remote configuration values through Firebase Remote Config
This information may include:
Device model
Operating system version
App version
Technical information related to crashes
We do not use this information to identify you personally.

Provide the core ledger and khata features
Store and sync your data securely
Authenticate your account

We do not use your ledger or contact data for advertising purposes.
Your information is stored using trusted third-party services.
Supabase securely stores your account, friends, transactions, categories, and khata data using PostgreSQL with Row Level Security (RLS), ensuring each user can only access their own information.
Google Firebase processes diagnostic information, notifications, and remote configuration.
These providers may process or store data on servers located outside your country of residence.
We share information only when necessary to operate DigitalKhata.
This includes:
Trusted service providers such as Supabase and Google Firebase
Legal authorities when required by law
Situations necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or the public
We do not share your personal or financial information with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
We retain your data for as long as your account remains active.
You may:
Delete individual transactions, friends, categories, or khata books at any time from within the app.
Request deletion of your entire account and all associated data from within the app or by contacting us using the email below.
When you request account deletion:
Your account is immediately deactivated.
You are logged out of all devices.
You cannot access your account during the next 90 days.
After the 90-day period, your account and all associated personal data are permanently deleted from our systems, unless we are legally required to retain certain information.
This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
HTTPS/TLS encrypted connections
Secure authentication
Per-user access controls
Database security provided by Supabase
Although we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
DigitalKhata is not intended for children under the age of 13, or the minimum legal age required in your jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.
