Herbst&Firl Globus camera, model M. Manufactured by A.G. Ernemann who took over the company of Ernst Herbst&Firl in 1899. The lens is a Doppel-anastigmat produced by C.P. Goerz. Owned by sisters Hilma and Hanna Johanson who ran a photo studio in Visby from 1905 to 1916. Hilma was born in 1867 and Johanna (“Hanna”) 1876 to parents Anders and Johanna Berg, who had nine children in total. The family moved around a lot. Hilma worked as a photo assistant for Charlotte Hermansson during 1895-1900, after which she moved back to Visby where the family was currently living. Hanna lived in Umeå from 1898 to 1901 before she also moved to Visby. The sisters moved to a shared residence in Västervik in 1901 where they lived until 1905, when they moved back to Visby. From around 1905 they ran a photography studio on Södra Kyrkogatan 1, called H & H Johanson. In 1916 the ownership of the studio was taken over by Märta Berglund. The sisters stayed in Visby until 1933 when they moved to the mainland together. In 1935 they moved to Örebro where they went their separate ways. Hilma passed away March 11th 1942 at 75 years of age and Hanna passed away June 20th 1964 at 88 years of age. None of them married.
