The goal of this event is stimulate new thinking on consumer protection and big data in the climate emergency

The conference will focus on consumer protection, while the workshop will focus on artificial intelligence, digitalization, data centers and platform consumption, all in the context of sustainability goals and the unfolding climate crisis.

The conference welcomes contributions on any topic related to the redefinition of consumer protection regulation under environmental and social sustainability concerns from an experimental, empirical, economic, or purely normative perspectives. The workshop welcomes contributions from multuple disciplines, including political and social sciences, law, economics and ecology. These activities will harness ongoing research by faculty and graduate students and help to link them with wider academic networks.


Submissions for the Conference and/or Workshop should be sent as a final paper (including an abstract of 200 words) or as an outline of minimum 2 pages to planet@upf.edu until August 1, 2022. Submissions by women and underrepresented minorities are particularly welcome.

Limited financial aid is available for few invited speakers and for selected papers presented by PhD candidates. The International Conference and the Workshop will take place jointly and participants are welcome to submit for one of the events and participate in both.

Communication of acceptance will be by August 10, 2022 and papers are due on September 1, 2022.

Selected communications may be published in a special issue of an indexed journal or as a book chapter (information will be provided in due course).
