There are student examples below the photos. These are just for you to see how others have handled the problem.
Your sketches should help you to create environments that are stylized with purpose. Your line should be refined, We would prefer for you to make the shapes better instead of doing a full rendering. This is about getting the the line and the shapes right.

(Use the Free Version not the Pro Version)
This software has an extensive 3D Warehouse which is constantly added to as it is open source. Search for a model and place it in Sketchup. Orbit and Zoom to the best view. Export as a PNG. Open in Photoshop and draw over it.

The sketching was done in Photoshop.
Further the image by bringing characters into it for a cinematic drawing. I used the rules of illusion of space to keep pushing atmospheric perspective. - Susan Bonner

LARGE TOOL SET: gets all the tools you will need
FOG: Use this to create an illusion of space
STYLES: Use this to simplify your form and take the photo textures off
SHADOW SETTINGS: Use this for lighting - It is one light source - the sun.
COLOR: use this to give a color background other then white

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
- Download sketchup free version
- go to 3d warehouse - get models (we used Windsor Castle)
- use fog
- use solid shading in styles
- use sun for lighting​
- use the magnification tool to choose the focal length in the bottom right - try 70 and try 20 - normal is 35.
- export as a tif
- bring to PSD
- draw environment into the file
- Make it have more illusion of space by blocking in shapes of shading over the image.

- On Side Bar: Display (Glasses) Fog - adjust it.
- Dialogue boxes will pop up with options for each effect.

- adjust based on time of day and the month there is one light.

3D Warehouse: Components
Fog applied with no texture on surfaces.
Sketchy edges in styles chosen - I overlayed these too layers in psd in order to get a foggy sketchy feel.
Now sketching other assets - wheelbarrow, coffins, broom sticks for sale - all to clean up after the plague.
With color mode on painting with 2 contrasting colors.
With color mode - paint a similar color to add mood - pink on the castle adds life.
Color mode on green for muddy death feel on the right
CG textures - overlay layer mode with a concrete texture for mood.
Sky replacement using paste into technique - from CG textures partial sky.
