A few months had passed and Jessica's belly was substantially larger now. She was sitting at a table with large stacks of books surrounding her. One of them was in a stand so the book was standing vertically. The cover had a blonde mermaid sitting on a rock in the middle of the ocean, smiling as a breeze brushed past her face, at sunset. The mermaid on the book's cover had a scaly dark blue tail and silver coverings for her breasts. The title of the book said "Mermaids: Separating Fact From Fiction" near the top of the cover, above the mermaid's head. At the bottom of the book cover, where the mermaid's tail ended was the name of the author; Jessica Glovion. Jessica was doing a book signing.
A young girl walked up to the book signing table. Her mother was accompanying her. She looked to be about 7 or 8 years old. "It's the mermaid princess! I'm so happy to finally meet you; a real mermaid princess! My mommy has read me storybooks about mermaid princesses when I was little, or, errmm…littler. I'm going to read your book and learn all about real mermaids from a real mermaid!" The little girl was extremely enthusiastic. "That's wonderful." Jessica said as her mother picked up a copy and paid for it with the person handling the purchases sitting next to her. Evander was sitting next to her running the cash register. The mother of the little girl handed the book back to Jessica. Jessica grabbed a pen and put the pen to the front page of her book. "And who's the pretty little princess I'm making this out to?" Jessica asked, smiling at the adorable little girl. "My name's Stacy!" Jessica realized something. "Stacy. That's….a nickname for Anastasia, isn't it?" Jessica asked. The little girl nodded. "Yep." Jesscia wrote "To my biggest fan, Stacy - Jessica Glovion" in cursive letters. She handed the book to the little girl. "Technically, my name is Anastasia too. My mother changed it to Jessica." Jessica said. "Why did she change it?" Stacy asked. "You'll find out in the next book I'm working on. It's my autobiography." Jessica explained. Stacy smiled and gave a big thumbs up. She thanked Jessica for the autographed book and then walked away with her mother holding one hand, and Jessica's book occupying the other.
The next person in line was someone she didn't expect to see; Kinandon. Kinandon was wearing a black hoodie and sunglasses. The Black Hoodie had the Porno Graffiti logo on it and a picture of the band members. Porno Graffiti is a Japanese rock band. Kinandon removed the sunglasses and smiled at her. "Hey there, Jessie. Looks like your non-fiction book has become a best seller." Kinandon said. Evander and Jessica seemed surprise to see Kinandon here. "Ki-King Kinandon?" Jessica said in surprise. Kinandon put his finger over his lips. "SSSSHHH!!! No one knows I'm here. I probably have half an hour before my guards find me. I just came here to visit you. It's been a while since we hung out. Are you really, really sure you don't want to become queen?" Kinandon said. Jessica smiled. "No. I'm happy here on Earth. Besides, I can't just abandon my husband. He'd be lost without me. He can't cook! You know he'd just be eating instant Ramen every night for the rest of his life!" Jessica said. Kinandon started rubbing his chin. "Maybe if I tampered with his DNA, I could turn him into a merman." Kinandon said. "No!" Jessica said sternly. Kinandon laughed a little. "Relax! I'm only kidding!" Kinandon said.
Jessica and Kinandon had actually developed a friendship in the ensuing months after the Ordinemon fiasco. Why not? They were blood relatives, and Kinandon really had no reason to bear a grudge since he now knew the truth about Jessica's non-involvement in the Royal Family's assasination. However, as king of a whole planet, getting the opportunity to actually spend time with her was a rare thing, but that only made him cherish it all the more. Jessica filled an emptiness inside him that Katie had left. She was no replacement sister, but he found her company to be a healing experience. Kinandon had found out they had the same father months before at the UN hearing where they answered a plethora of questions. Speaking of the UN, they actually negotiated with Earth and Aqualia to become allies. And a new form of citizenship had been invented on Earth to accommodate people like Jessica who either had or would move there and consider Earth their permanent place of residency. Just as you can take a test to become a U.S Citizen if you move there from another country, you can also take a test to become an "Earth Citizen" if you move here from another planet. Immigrants like Jessica had to take two tests; one for planetary citizenship, and another for country citizenship. Jessica had taken both and was now an official citizen of Japan, Earth. Jessica's book had been translated in several different languages and was a best-seller in every country it was published in. It was, after all, the ONLY book on the subject of Aqualia's history, Merperson biology, and what the legends about mermaids through history got right and what they got wrong.
Jessica had another brother, Zackery, who was fathered by Evangelos (or Phil) after Jessica's family had moved to Earth. Zackery lived in the states and was shocked to find out his true heritage. Unlike his half-sister Jessica (half, because Jessica's true father is Ahab), he didn't have a Digimon. Kinandon had gotten to know Zackery as well over the past several months. Zackery has still not manifested Poseidonic powers.
Jessica smiled. "It's good to see you again, little bro." She said. "Finally. It took me forever to get you to stop calling me 'Your Highness'." Kinandon said. Kinandon picked up a copy of "Mermaids: Separating Fact From Fiction". "I'll buy one of these if you promise to become queen." Kinandon said. Jessica sighed. "Kinandon…" She said, exasperated. "Ok, ok. I didn't actually come here to nag you some more about taking my place as monarch. I actually wanted to ask if you like to hang out some time this weekend? There's a huge sporting event going on in the Capital City. Grab some artificial gills, slap 'em on your hubby, and bring him and that baby of yours." Kinandon said. Jessica smiled. "Sounds great." She said.
Suddenly, Kinandon heard a voice call out "There he is! King Kinandon!" He looked over to see a man. He was clad in that storm trooper esque armor. He ran up to King Kinandon and scolded him. "Your highness! Do you care about your safety!? While you are out and about on other planets, we are to keep watch over you at all times for your protection!" The guard commanded. "Ok, Ok. I'm sorry! I won't do it again! I promise!" Kinandon said, his timid nature coming out. The guard grabbed him by the arm and started dragging him out of line. "We're going back through the wormhole!" He said. Kinandon objected "Hey, wait! While I was here, I wanted to buy another book on overcoming timidity!"
Jessica smiled but then looked startled. She looked down at her large pregnant baby. "She kicked!" Jessica said. Evander looked over to her. "What?" Evander asked, not hearing what she had said. "Taylor started kicking." Jessica said. "So umm…..will our daughter have….you know, incredible powers?" Evander asked. Jessica shook her head. "No. I did some digging into the Poseidon line, and it definitely skips a generation. Since I have the powers, Taylor won't. However, I am interested in finding out if she'll be able to form a tail. There's a 50/50 chance of her being able to grow gills and tail VS. her just being human." Jessica said. Evander looked down at Jessica's belly and leaned closer to it. He smiled. "None of that matters to me. As long as she's a healthy baby." He said.
