Plot
The plot loosely follows the first arc of Digimon Adventure 02, with the main character being Dafu (Davis/Daisuke) from 02. During a camping trip, Dafu gets transported by a portal to the Figures world (Digital world) and has to find a way back to the Human world while uncovering and putting a stop to Wild dragon reform's (Digimon Emperor's) plan along the way. He meets and teams up with other DigiDestined and their Digimon partners, such as Yuli (Yolei/Miyako), Cody (Cody/Iori), Ken (Ken), Tai (Tai/Taichi), Matt (Matt/Yamato), Sora (Sora), Izzy (Izzy/Koushiro), Mimi (Mimi), Joe (Joe/Jyou), T.K. (T.K./Takeru), and Kari (Kari/Hikari). However, some of the characters have different names, personalities, or roles in the story. For example, Ken is not the Digimon Emperor, but rather a friend of Dafu who gets kidnapped by Wild dragon reform. T.K. and Kari are not DigiDestined, but rather ordinary kids who help Dafu in the Human world.
Gameplay
The gameplay is similar to other Vast Fame RPGs, such as Pokemon Ruby, Digimon Pocket, and Digital Monsters 3. The player controls Dafu and his Digimon partner through various locations in the Figures world and the Human world, fighting enemies and bosses along the way. The player can also switch between different Digimon partners, each with their own stats, abilities, and evolutions. The battles are turn-based, with the player choosing between attacking, using items, or running away. The game also features a day and night cycle, which affects some events and encounters in the game.
Reception
Digimon Ruby is widely considered to be one of the worst Digimon games ever made, due to its poor quality, lack of originality, numerous glitches, and inaccurate portrayal of the Digimon franchise. The game has received negative reviews from critics and fans alike, who have criticized its graphics, sound, gameplay, story, translation, and overall design. The game is also notorious for being extremely hard to find and expensive to buy, as it was only released in limited quantities in some Asian markets.
