Mini Problem - Identifier Pin 

For my identifier pins, I decided to make 3 variations: 

• Hobby Hopper on a paint palette to symbolize crafty hobbies. 

  • This was the phrase I used on my first day of class to introduce myself. I am always trying out new hobbies, hence the phrase. 

• Curiosity Collector in a mason jar to symbolize collecting things in a jar. I was thinking of a treasure chest at first, but I chose a mason jar because it is more practical and realistic for how I will use mason jars to store my random knick-knacks. 

  • This phrase is another version of hobby hopper. I like this one too, to represent myself because I am always curious about the why and how of things. I just like learning new things!

• Growing in an iteration of a rose I drew for my own logo. 

  • I have an affinity for flowers, especially roses, so I made a rose. I added the word growing in the middle because, like a flower, I am growing, but at the same time, like a flower, at times I can be unalive and exhausted until I prune and restart. 

Since this was my first time using a laser cutter and Adobe Illustrator for laser cutting, I test-cut my designs on cardboard first. On the first iteration, the pins came out really small, but super cute! I realized that I was misreading the ruler guide on Adobe Illustrator. I fixed the issue, and on the second iteration, the pins came out the right size (~1inch). 

Once I knew I had the sizing correct, I did the final cut on the acrylic material and ta-da! I have my final pin designs.
