SUBMIT FINGERPRINT

Note: Fingerprint can be done prior to the exam or after the exam on PSI site.

We strongly recommend to do it before the exam, because obtaining the fingerprint impressions beforehand will minimize the risk that the license issuance will be delayed while awaiting the results from both the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

Option 1： Prior to the exam with CDI’s Vendors

● If you would like to have your fingerprint impressions taken before your license examination, you may schedule your fingerprint impressions using CDI's contracted fingerprint vendor. The DOJ maintains a listing of authorized Live Scan Fingerprinting vendors (scroll down, select your county) that are available to California resident license applicants.

● When you go to have your fingerprint impressions made, please bring with you a completed Live Scan Request, form LIC 442-39A (click the link and download form).

** To Properly Record Your Fingerprints

To ensure that your fingerprint impressions are properly recorded, the applicant must pay the applicable fee and do the following:

1. Complete the Request for Live Scan Service form LIC 442-39A (see link above)*.

2. Take your completed Request for Live Scan Service form to the live scan vendor.

3. Complete the fingerprint impressions. The fee is $70-80.

4. Retain a copy of the Request for Live Scan Service form LIC 442-39A* for your records. Give the copy of the form to the live scan service vendor who will provide you with the Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) number that is assigned to your fingerprint impressions. If your fingerprint impressions are rejected, the ATI number will allow for you to have your fingerprint impressions redone at no charge.

Option 2: Take Fingerprint after the exam on PSI exam site, the fee is $68.95

Please make the money order, cashier's check, company check payable to PSI. Personal checks and cash will not be accepted at PSI's test centers. PSI also accepts VISA and MasterCard.

Note: Not all test centers have finger print facility, e.g. Diamond Bar test center can not do finger print.
