RENEW LICENSE

About late renew: A renewal is considered late if all renewal requirements are not met on or before the expiration date of a license. An expired license is eligible for renewal for up to 1 year after the expiration date. After 1 year, this person needs to take the exam and file a new application.

Step 1. Complete Continue Education

1. Go to http://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0008-check-license-status/index.cfm and click "License Number" or "Name Search" to find your license.

2. Check your continue education requirements by clicking "Continue Education" button at the bottom of the Individual License Details page.

3. See "Hours Needed for Renewal". Most likely you need the Ethic class and some knowledge related classes.

** To renew Annuity, select the 4-hour course.

** To renew LTC, select the course that is different from last year (you can find last year's course by clicking "View CE Detail").

** Ethics is always mandatory in every renew.

4. Sign up for related CE course and complete your CE.

Buy CE course from mywfg>Licensing and appointment>Continue Education. We recommend KAPLAN or SuccessCE. There are free courses and unlimited 1-year course. You should not study the same CE course as previous year (check your previous certificate), otherwise the credit will not be accepted.

Kaplan or SuccessCE will send your CE course completion status to your resident state insurance department, which will be reflected on the CE detail page above.

Step 2. Renew with government, pay for renew fee ($188)

  • For the State of NORTH CAROLINA, insurance license do not need to be renewed.

Step 3. Check status and follow up

1. Check your renewal status on NIPR and print your license (with a new expire date).

Once renew successful, you should receive an email from insurance.ca.gov to download your latest license.

You can also print your license on the website: https://nipr.com/help/print-your-license

2. Email to WFG Licensing Department wfglicenseapps@transamerica.com.

When sending documents, please remember the following:

  • Include your agent code number in the subject line of the email

  • Scan each license separately and send in separate emails if you have resident and non-resident licenses.

  • Do not send attachments that are locked or that require a password to open

3. Check "mywfg.com>licensing and appointment" report to verify the new expire date.
