About Me

Di is currently a senior staff research scientist at Samsung AI Center Montreal, where he leads the LLM Optimization team and AI for Telecommunication team.  He is also an Adjunct Professor at McGill University. Di joined Samsung AI Center Montreal in September 2019. Before joining Samsung, he did postdoctoral research at Montreal MILA and Stanford University. He received his Ph.D. degree from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 2018 and his MSc degree from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 2013. Di also holds a bachelor’s degree in microelectronics and a bachelor’s degree in economics. At Samsung AI Center Montreal, Di received  All-Star Award and Rock-Star Award and was recognized as the top performer for three consecutive years. Di’s research interests mainly lie in reinforcement learning, transfer learning, meta-Learning, and multitask Learning. He is also interested in leveraging such algorithms to improve real-world systems (e.g., Power Grids, Communication Systems, and Transportation Systems). Di has published more than 100 papers on top venues, including flagship domain journals (e.g., IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, Journal of Machine Learning Research) and top-tier AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, ICRA). Di also holds more than 30 US patents on AI applications, such as forecasting, decision-making, load balancing, and energy saving.
