In short: We do not require an account, we do not run ads, we do not use analytics or tracking, and we do not collect or sell your personal information. Your favourites and settings stay on your device. Your location is used only to show you on the map and to calculate routes — it is never stored on our servers.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Maldives House Finder application and website (collectively, the "App") handle information when you use it. The App is provided by the House Finder team ("we", "us"). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
If you tap the "Find my location" button, the App requests your device's location (GPS) through the standard Android location permission. Your location is used to:
show your current position on the map; and
calculate and display a walking route between you and a selected house.
Your location is processed in real time on your device. We do not store your location, and we do not have any servers that receive or retain it. To draw a walking route, your coordinates are sent to the third-party routing service OSRM (router.project-osrm.org) solely to compute that route. If you do not grant location permission, the rest of the App still works; only the location and routing features are unavailable.
The following are saved locally on your device (in the app's local storage) and are never transmitted to us or any third party:
your saved/favourite houses;
your language preference (English / Dhivehi); and
your dark-mode setting.
You can clear this data at any time by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the App.
House and island information shown in the App is publicly available data bundled within the App itself. The optional "suggest a house" feature only displays the entry on your own device and copies it to your device log for your reference — it is not submitted to us or anyone else.
We do not require registration, accounts, or login.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone.
The App displays maps and calculates routes using the following third-party services. When your device requests data from them, those services necessarily receive your device's IP address and the specific data being requested (for example, the map area you are viewing, or — for routing — the coordinates of the route). These services are operated independently and have their own privacy policies:

Because we do not collect or store your personal data on any server, there is no personal data held by us to be breached. Data you generate (favourites, settings) remains on your device under your control until you remove it.
The App is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. As we collect no personal information from anyone, the App does not target or profile children.
Location: You can grant or revoke location permission at any time in your device's Settings → Apps → House Finder → Permissions.
Stored data: Clear the app's storage, or uninstall the App, to remove all locally saved data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
