Biography: Dexter Green, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, began his dance training at the age of three at Tari's School of Dance and later joined Revolution Dance Co. His passion for dance grew as he began dancing competitively, in solo and group divisions, winning awards and accolades along the way. In the spring of 2015, Dexter received a B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. He was given the distinction of Marshall of his graduating class. He has performed works by Danny Burachezci, Mike Esperanza, Bill T. Jones, Adam Hougland, Joost Vrouenrates, Joshua L. Peugh, and Bruce Wood.

During his time at SMU, Dexter was a founding member of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance’s United States branch, performed with the Dallas Symphonic Orchestra in their 2014 Christmas Performance, performed in the 2015 Miss TEXAS Beauty Pageant, performed in numerous industrials with Mary Kay, Inc. and Sally Beauty Supply. A Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, he chartered his chapter, Upsilon Mu, in the fall of 2012.

Currently located in Los Angeles, Dexter performs with a professional Bollywood company, Karmagraphy Entertainment and Stroll Groove Entertainment. He has taught hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, Bollywood and jazz in the greater Los Angeles area. Dexter has appeared in numerous music videos, national campaigns, commercial print, movies, live performances with artists like Aloe Blacc and Dawn Richard, national campaigns with GAP and BET, has appeared in music videos with Allu Arjun, Vidya Vox, Dawn Richard, Issac Choe, Esther Anaya, just to name a few. As a choreographer, his competition solos and group numbers have placed 1st, and has assisted in choreographing for tours and behind the scenes for music videos.

Course Description

Intro to Dance (No Audition Required): This class includes ballet, jazz, hip-hop and modern dance. This class is designed for students with minimal or no dance experience. The course will provide the students with the opportunity to acquire basic overall knowledge to develop dance skills, and expand their creative potential and appreciation of different dance styles. Students will learn the basic fundamentals in dance. Students will learn terminology and history with opportunities for collaborative student choreography. Included in the curriculum are journals, quizzes, practice logs, and to see a live performance along with a reflection essay. Students must participate in any performances scheduled throughout the year. 


Beginning Dance: (Audition: June/August Required)It is a yearlong course that includes ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, choreography, and multicultural. The course will provide students with the opportunity to acquire basic overall knowledge to develop dance skills and expand their creative potential and appreciation of different dance styles. Students will learn terminology and history with opportunities for collaborative student choreography. This class is intended for students with 1-2 years of experience. An audition is required for placement. 


Beginning Advance Dance: (Audition: June/August Required)It is a yearlong course that includes ballet; jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, choreography, and multicultural. The course will provide students with the opportunity to acquire basic overall knowledge to develop dance skills and expand their creative potential and appreciation of different dance styles. Students will learn terminology and history with opportunities for collaborative student choreography. This class is intended for students with 2-3 years of experience. An audition is required for placement


Intermediate Dance: (Audition: June/August Required)It is a yearlong course that includes ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, choreography, and multicultural.The course will provide students with the opportunity to acquire dance technique at an intermediate/advanced level and overall knowledge to develop dance skills; as well as expand their creative potential and appreciation of different dance styles. Students will learn terminology and history with opportunities for collaborative student choreography. This class is intended for students with at least 2-3 years or more of dance experience; having demonstrated an understanding of basic and beginning fundamentals in Intro to Dance, Beginning, and Beginning Advanced Dance. An audition is required for placement. 


Performance Team: (Audition June/August Required)Performance team’s main purpose is to promote school spirit, provide entertainment at performances, and represent the school at community events. An audition is required for placement. The mission is to provide dancers with a successful and meaningful educational experience. Team members have personal goals of high academic achievement, increasing their dance ability, learning effective time management, inquiring leadership skills, and forming strong friendships. The success of this team is due to a strong commitment from the dancers, parental involvement, and experienced coaches. The dancers exhibit good sportsmanship, and positive attitudes toward team members, competitors, schoolmates, and parents. Team members must show determination, dedication, and desire to be productive members.




Grading Policy 

Grades are based on effort and skill. Students must earn their grades as grades are not given. Grades are weighted.

PBD’s (10 points daily)

Active Participation/behavior: Students are expected to participate to the best of their ability throughout the entire period every day. Students are expected to have a positive attitude, be respectful to teachers and other students, and use appropriate language at all times.

Dress: Students must wear appropriate clothing explained in dress attire every day. Hair must be pulled up out of the face. Dancers must also wear proper dance shoes. (5 points) 



Students are required to dress according to the dress code below daily. Absolutely no polos, jeggings, skirts, or denim of any kind. Layers of clothing may be worn during warm-up only! Students will be asked to take off layers after warm-up. Note: All clothing must be black unless wearing any of the NW gear.
