I am a Full Professor of Statistics. Before joining UH-Downtown, I taught at Louisiana Tech University for ten years. I earned my BS in Statistics from Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, my MS in Applied Mathematical Sciences from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, my MS in Statistics from the University of Alberta, and my PhD in Statistics from Case Western Reserve University. My current focus is on applying Bayesian techniques to survey methodology and converting these methods into free R packages. I am also interested in improving statistics curricula to ensure they align with the rapidly evolving fields in data science. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis or basketball for fun.
News! Maggie Ha secured second place in the 2025 Conference of Texas Statisticians poster competition (see here).
